Would like some opinions on

Vaughan/Vaughn
Orson
Verne
Edward
Samuel
Gregory
Monty
Mungo
Edgar
Edmund

None of these are a definite for the short list (well DH thnks one is...) so give me the worst...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wibblewobbly · 07/03/2009 21:11

The only one I like is Samuel - which I love. But not keen on the others Im afraid.

ThatsNotMyPirate · 07/03/2009 21:13

Edward is lovley.

yama · 07/03/2009 21:13

Agree with Wibblewobbly - only Samuel. Oh, and maybe Monty.

cece · 07/03/2009 21:14

Sadly I think Samuel is in the top 50 names, which is one of my criteria (not to be in the top 50 names that is!)

Some more I have been thinking about

Mark
Paul
Tom

from your list I like

Edward
Edmund
Monty

and similar ones I could suggest are

Hugo
Hector
Herbert nn Herb/Herbie/Bertie
Gilbert nn Gil or Bertie
Gideon
Gabriel
Dashiel

dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:14

Tom is nice

what about Will?

bodiddly · 07/03/2009 21:15

I like Monty, Edward and Samuel but I guess there are quite a few Edwards and Samuels out there - not a problem unless you are bothered by popular names!

cece · 07/03/2009 21:16

dizzy I do like Gideon but DH says no. Actually he has said no to a few on the list but has come up with only one suggestion! It is on the first list but isn't my favourite. LOL Hopefully we will have a girl as we have several names we both like for a girl.

I actually don't think Edward is in the top 50 names for last year. Although I agree there are a few around. Funnily enough Jack is one of the top names but I hardly know any of them

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:18

cheek of him! which one was your DH's suggestion?

what about Arthur nn Art?

sweetkitty · 07/03/2009 21:19

Samuel and Edward are my favourites

cece · 07/03/2009 21:19

DH likes Edward

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:19

hi Kitty!

sweetkitty · 07/03/2009 21:21

hi dizzy this is unchartered terrority for us boys names it's like when you are in Next I believe theres a whole section of blue clothes, never been in it though

dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:22

very true kitty although friends just had a wee boy so dipped a toe in - he's called Samuel Jack!!

cece I like Edward nn Teddy for when he's a baby

what about Ronnie?

cece · 07/03/2009 21:23

I think we would shorten it to Ed.

I love Ronnie but have had to discount it because it rhymes with one of my other DC's name...

sweetkitty · 07/03/2009 21:26

Dizzy - apart from one friend I have NEVER bought a present for a baby girl, everyone I know has boys.

My virtual baby boy would be called Elliot

dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:27

Elliot is nice too

cece tis the law to call baby Edwards Teddy until they're 5 and going to school, then he can be a grown up Ed

sweetkitty · 07/03/2009 21:29

Ed is a cool name

I prefer traditonal strong boys names like Matthew, Thomas, Gabriel, Luke etc

cece · 07/03/2009 21:33

The trouble is a lot of my friends have used those sort of names.

I quite like Ned too.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:40

Ned up here in scotland means a wee gadgie scum bag that wears shell suits tucked into his sports socks, smokes, drinks and wears too much gold jewellery

but don't let that put you off

cece · 07/03/2009 21:42

Thanks for the tip! Never been to Scotland but that doesn't mean my dc won't! Think I prefer Ed anyway...

So no other names from my list pass muster??

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 07/03/2009 21:43

Edmund, Edward or Monty for me

cece · 07/03/2009 21:44

OK will come out and say my favourite is Gregory.
