I just cannot decide on a name! Names I like today I tend to go off tomorrow!!

I like:

Emma
Bethany
Holly

DP doesn't like any of these as he thinks they are too boring.

She is due in March and at this rate she will be Baby Barton! Not good!

Zebraa · 05/01/2009 13:07

Artemisia
Cassandra
Jessamy
Octavia

Emma Barton played Honey in EE.

What unboring names does he like?

Dd knows a girl called Sassy (now that is definately not boring)

horsemadgal · 05/01/2009 13:09

I like Melissa.

Fimbo · 05/01/2009 13:09

So Emma, Bethany and Holly are boring and Melissa is not. Arf.

Silly man

BonsoirAnna · 05/01/2009 13:09

Zohra

CountessDracula · 05/01/2009 13:09

I like Melissa!

CountessDracula · 05/01/2009 13:09

(and it means little honey in greek)

Fimbo · 05/01/2009 13:09

How about Melanie?

Linnet · 05/01/2009 13:11

Melissa is a nice name.
Emma is lovely as is Bethany and I have a niece called Holly so I'm biased on that one.

How about Felicity, Cordelia, Coralie or Celeste.

Zebraa · 05/01/2009 13:15

He likes Melissa, Tilly and Lauren but none of them seem like names I like enough.

Driving me crazy now!

Sounds like you need to find something else you can both fall in love with.

Clarissa
Rhian
Cecily

Zebraa · 05/01/2009 13:26

we both have names we love, but just nothing we can agree on and we both seem to severely disagree so no room to compromise. I like Winona and DP says he is not naming our child after a theiving failed actress!! That sorta thing...

Have DS Charlie so name needs to go with his name.

I really love Rose and DP likes Rosy so maybe I can get him to budge a bit and go for Rose?

He likes Maddie, which I quite like but don't love. Is Maddie a popular name?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 05/01/2009 13:28

Josie?
A bit Rosy-ish

Pinkmarshmallow · 05/01/2009 14:08

I wud choose Emma from your list or Lauren from his.

duchesse · 05/01/2009 14:15

Emmeline? Unusual and a bit spicier than yours, yet similar, which your DP may prefer.

choosyfloosy · 05/01/2009 14:19

Maddie? As in Madeleine? It's getting more popular, but I certainly have only encountered 2, one of whom is over 10 now and lives in another country, and another who spells and pronounces it differently (wouldn't recommend the latter tbh).

I have always thought Madeleine was extremely pretty - Maddie as a nickname is fine, though wouldn't choose the nicknname myself as a 'main' name.

BlueChampagne · 05/01/2009 14:26

Rosanne (Rose/Rosy/Rosie as NN)
Tamsin
Marissa
Meryl

Really like Rhiannon but gather there is a famous one at the moment which may put you off.

Plonker · 05/01/2009 14:33

IMO Emma is a classically beautiful name, as is Ella. Bethany I don't like. Not sure why. Holly is very pretty.
Rose is beautiful and very under-used as a first name.
Madeleine (Maddie) I like, but I'm not crazy about.

I'm not keen on Melissa, but Alissa (Alyssa) is very pretty and in a similar vein.
Really don't like Tilly.
Lauren is lovely.

Good luck and happy choosing

CatchaStar · 05/01/2009 14:38

Charlie and Rosy would be pretty cute.

Harriett (Hatty for short?)
Ellie/Ella
May
Ruby
Lucy
Connie
Evie
Beth
Clara
Lissy (If you don't like Melissa?)
Ava/Eva
Amber
Robyn
Alice

Lola? Not helping, right?!

CatchaStar · 05/01/2009 14:39

Oooo, someone suggested Laurie on another thread which I think is luuuuuverly.

blinks · 05/01/2009 14:40

Polly

Carrie

Erin

Esme

Lucy

Clara

Beatrice

Katie

Iris

Alice

Xanthe ends with an "ee" sound like Holly and Bethany, but is a little more unusual.

thumbwitch · 05/01/2009 14:48

Daisy
Belinda
Rosalie
Rosanna
Lucinda

Maddie is quite popular, more for Maddison than Madeleine at the mo I think, but Madeleine is still up there. Agree, I don't like nicknames as their full name.
