I'll go first: DD was very nearly Sapphire.

I also really wanted Twm for a boy (Welsh for Tom), but I am not Welsh! I just thought it was fab to have a name with no vowels!

XP wanted to call DD 'Red'

Thankfully, I won

whoingodsnameami · 26/12/2008 22:34

Not unusual but I wanted to call one of dts Bronwyn, but everyone said...........ewwwwwwwwww that horrible.

Chaotica · 26/12/2008 22:34

Elvis (for cultural reasons, not because I'm a fan)

HangingbaublesofBethlehem · 26/12/2008 22:34

my grandad suggested 'stopher' short for christopher - we secretly quite liked it but ended up having girlies anyway.

Siriusmewisathreadkillertoo · 26/12/2008 22:34

Lysander for DS2. Ended up with David! Too much Jilly Cooper on my part!!

Chaotica · 26/12/2008 22:34

What's wrong with Bronwyn and Red??

SparkyFartDust · 26/12/2008 22:35

Fabia (didn't know Skoda got there first)

whoingodsnameami · 26/12/2008 22:35

Sapphire is nice, my niece is called Destiny.

Zebraa · 26/12/2008 22:36

wilkosroastingonanopenfire · 26/12/2008 22:36

romilly. kinda wish i had now.

Carmenere · 26/12/2008 22:36

Patience, it was vetoed, and dd was due just about the time that Roy and hayley on corrie were about to adopt that baby and they called her patience, I was furious. I wanted to call her after Patience Grey, who was an amazing food writer not a bloody soap opera baby

TequilaMockinBird · 26/12/2008 22:36

It always reminded me of Fraggle Rock as one of the main fraggles was called Red

Penthesileia · 26/12/2008 22:37

Leonora (2 of my favourite opera heroines have this name).

VirginBoffinMum · 26/12/2008 22:38

Marius or Rex

thatsnotmymonster · 26/12/2008 22:40

Savannah (not that unusual I know) Still really like it.

PaddingtonBore · 26/12/2008 22:40

I had so many normal names that DH vetoed, Iris and Cordelia being favourites. We did very nearly go for Regan though, but the evil sister connotations put us off. I'm glad we didn't chose it now!

thatsnotmymonster · 26/12/2008 22:44

Oh I forgot my absolute favourite girl's name is Hero from Much Ado About Nothing.

Love it. Wish DH had let me call one of our dd's Hero (sigh)

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/12/2008 22:44

DS2 I wanted Otis. DP said no as its the name of a brand of lifts. I had never seen that in a lift before. Since he told me, every bloody lift I go in (and you go in a lot when you have a pram ) has a big plate on saying 'OTIS'.

We couldn't agree on a boys name for ages, when he was born a midwife said 'whats his name' I said 'well the only name we agreed on was Natalie'

(Don't worry we agreed on something else before I left the hospital!!)

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 22:45

I wanted Ffion for DD but DP didn't like it cos it was Welsh and he isn't so we had Aaliyah instead

jobschmob · 26/12/2008 22:46

Gretal, Cocoa, Theo, Paddy

Siriusmewisathreadkillertoo · 26/12/2008 22:49

OOooh! I'm loving Marius!!! Want it!

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2008 22:56

dante
blaise

dorcas
polly

can't imagine why dp vetoed these

Bumperlicious · 26/12/2008 22:57

Oooh, Cocoa, I like!

I really wanted Aurora or Aurelia but DH said what if she has a speech impediment and has to say 'Aworwa'

ninah · 26/12/2008 22:58

Fuschia
