My kids say they have horrid names!

I have 6 kids... 4 dd's and 2 ds's... both my son's and one of my daughter's hate their names and middle names.

I feel like such a failure!

Linnie A
River D
Russell-Jay A
Nemea L
Coral V
and
Acacius J

I think they are lovely, does anyone like them?

OP posts:
abbierhodes · 16/12/2008 20:49

What are the middle names?

TheSeriousSanta · 16/12/2008 20:49

I only really like Linnie.

Sorry.

Tommy · 16/12/2008 20:49

not my choice but they can at least change them if they still don't like them when they're older!

MmeHereWeGoAWassailLindt · 16/12/2008 20:49

They sound quite American. I am not keen on any of them tbh.

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:51

Alyssa, Delilah, Adonis, Virginia and Jasper

Why has nobody ever told me this?!

OP posts:
DoubleBluff · 16/12/2008 20:51

they are a bit 'out-there' as names go.
But they are not horrible, just unusual.
encourage them to undestand that it is ok to be different

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:52

Sorry and Lilac..

You are, presumably, joking?

mummiesnet · 16/12/2008 20:53

Welcome to mumsnet btw OP. I see you joined today by contributing to another baby names thread.

WinkyWinkola · 16/12/2008 20:53

No, this is all wrong. You don't ask for opinions on your children's names once they've been given. You are proud of their names. They meant something to you when your little ones were born.

I think it's pointless posters saying they don't like them. Totally unconstructive and depressing.

What you could do is tell each of your DCs why they were called that name. Tell them how much that name meant to you, why it was special for them. Give them the chance to be proud of their name.

Your DCs will learn to love their names as they get older. They won't be among the countless Charlottes and Olivias and Jakes and Charlies!

You're not a failure!

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:54

ffs people don't need to be rude.
at least have imagination.
and yes i asked your opinion but it is a simple yes or no!

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 16/12/2008 20:54

I think your family sounds crazy and interesting

Sad they don't like them - tell them they can change them when they're 18?

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:54

mummiesnot new name... not new to mumsnet. Thanks anyway

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:55

My eldest is 19, bless she's the only one who doesn't say anything!

OP posts:
MmeHereWeGoAWassailLindt · 16/12/2008 20:55

Your second names are lovely. Would your children like to use them?

TheSeriousSanta · 16/12/2008 20:56

Why on why do you Christen a Child 'Adonis'???????????

Other than that, I agree with onebat, you have one crazy, but interesting family!!!!

MmmMum · 16/12/2008 20:57

Thanks Winky.
I don't think ds's will ever change their minds. so STUBBORN.
