Dd's class has 2 children called:

Emily
Nadia
Alex (boy)
Nikita (boy)
Cameron

Apart from Emily, I would have thought these names were fairly uncommon. Just curious to see which are the most popular names in your childs' school.

Only 24 in DD's one class year. 2 James, 3 Mia, 2 Hannah, 2 Katies.

RustyBear · 07/12/2008 22:05

I work in a junior school with 224 pupils -
Thomas x 7
Emma, Emily & James x6
Megan, Ben, Sam & Sophie x5

But this year's year 3 is unusual as it has 4 Sams, 4 Millies, 3 Harrys, 3 Alices, and 2 each of Matthew, James, Alex, Hannah and Josie - which means that almost half the year have to be identified with their surname letter.

llareggub · 07/12/2008 22:10

When I was at school in the early 80s, the boys were all called Paul, Gareth, David, Mark or Christopher.

There were 20 boys and we were very grateful when Dean turned up.

SnowMuchToBits · 07/12/2008 22:10

In the class there are no duplicates, In the year (year 3) (2 classes) there are 2 Alices, 2 Bethanys, 2 Daniels, 2 Georgias, 2 Jacks, 2 Joshuas, 2 Morgans.

PussinWellies · 07/12/2008 22:11

ladyworsley · 07/12/2008 22:27

cece · 07/12/2008 22:32

I taught a Year 3 class a few years ago and I had 3 Pauls, 3 Davids, 2 Bens (their surnames were almost identical too) and 2 Rebeccas. I had a nightmare!

In my DS school

Cameron seems very popular
Charlie (for boys and girls)

DD is the juniors

Josh
Sophie
Abbie

BikeRunSki · 08/12/2008 08:10

DS not in school yet. but I did a "School Ambassador" day in the summer where you go into schools and do fun exercises to show kids how great it is to be an engineer. In a combined 1yr and 2nd year infant class, (so 4/5 and 5/6 years olds I think), of about 40 there were something like 12 Joseph/Josefs and 9 Graces!

pooka · 08/12/2008 08:14

James/Jamie
Jessica

allytjd · 08/12/2008 08:25

Three Camerons in DS1's class (more common in Scotland I think).

weepootle · 08/12/2008 08:34

In dd's pre-school which only has about 15 children there are 2 of each:

In our school there are a few of these names:
Jack
Harry
James
Theo
Caitlin
Eva
Charlotte

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 08/12/2008 12:05

dd1 has two Mia's and two beth's for her close friends. Thank god she seems to like refering to people by their full names. Its much easier when she talks about Beth Jones and Beth Smith and Mia from school and Mia from dancing.

it might be because she has two nana Joans so she learned from an early that asking if she could phone Nana Joan was just going to cause confusion. We now have nana Joan from round the Nursery road and nana Joan from round our road.

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 08/12/2008 12:07

Anna, your daughter is Flora? I love, love, love that name!

ranting · 08/12/2008 12:14

Joseph (there is 5 in dd's year alone), Rebecca (2 in her class), Erin/Ellie (loads in school), lots of Joshua's but can only think of one Chloe and there's a few (think it's 4 in her year) Amelia's.
