It's just silly.

Walter ?

Was horrid 70 years ago. Still horrid now. Dennis is right.

(With apologies to all the no-doubt-lovely old Walters out there).

My Dad's pal was called Walter. His nickname was Watty for some reason.
Walter isn't too bad thoguh - I've heard worse, especially round here, the flippin made-up names...

Nbg · 08/11/2008 15:38

Thats your opinion.

Some people do like it.

Cadelaide · 08/11/2008 15:40

I'm just worried I might start liking it.

You know that thing where you start off loathing it and then suddenly from nowhere you hear yourself blathering about how "....I've always loved the name Walter".

Nbg, it's your RL name isn't it?

Me and my mother came up with it 2 years ago when I was pregnant with ds2. He was Walter or William until he was born, then it was Wilbur.

I wish we'd stuck with Walter now!!

Guadalupe · 08/11/2008 15:42

My friend has just called her baby Walter, Watty for short. Watty doesn't roll of the tongue for me but then I suppose you have to shorten it to something other than Wally.

I didn't like it much when she announced it but I'm used to it now.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 15:42

Walt?

Guadalupe · 08/11/2008 15:42

OFF

Guadalupe · 08/11/2008 15:43

sorry, that correcting my typo

hmm, Walt, not sure!

largeginandtonic · 08/11/2008 15:44

Nooooo surely it's not making a comeback! Good grief we will be having little Wyatts running around before we know it.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 15:45

Lol! Wyatt is worse for sure.

Guade, I know - made me laugh for a second though!

Cadelaide · 08/11/2008 15:45

Wyatt.

Hmmm.

Quite like that.

Tastes change. Pre the advent of chav, when I was 14, I thought the most beautiful name for a girl was Jade; now in my middle-aged crustiness I lean towards OLC.

Guadalupe · 08/11/2008 15:46

I thought she would be alone in choosing quite such an old fashioned name but Walter has been mentioned on here a couple of times in the last few weeks.

In fact my friend's son is named after his godfather and he is only in his thirties.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 15:46

What;s OLC?

It's a shame what happened to Jade.

I hope Wilbur doesn't become chavorific. Can you imagine? Wilburs in baseball caps and white shell suits.

Nbg · 08/11/2008 15:47

My RL name?!

I am a lady!

Guadalupe · 08/11/2008 15:48

Lol flight, walt off doesn't carry much weight as an insult does it.

Cadelaide · 08/11/2008 15:48

largeginandtonic · 08/11/2008 15:50

Cadelaide noooo

I love Wilbur Flight, has been on every boy list but it has always been veetoed. Am having a girl this time so (for a change) am stuck on girl names.

Keeping with the Walter theme what would be the girlie equivalent?

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 15:52

LG&T glad you like it we had a lot of nonplussed 'Oh' type responses!

Doesn't help that he looked like voldemort when he was a baybee

I think Mildred, really.

Nbg · 08/11/2008 15:53

Okaaay

I am lost now.

[tired and stupid emoticon]

Cadelaide · 08/11/2008 15:53
