It's just silly.

Walter ?

Was horrid 70 years ago. Still horrid now. Dennis is right.

(With apologies to all the no-doubt-lovely old Walters out there).

largeginandtonic · 08/11/2008 15:58

Theres an Eli in Emmerdale, so beware of the "did you get that from Emmerdale" comments
Connie is lovely. Another of my favourite girls names.

I love all the old names but dh wasn't keen. He much prefers more modern names.

Walter is horrific!!! Don't do it, anyone! And I like precisely three names on that Times list, Eleanor, Elspeth and Octavia.

MrsMattie · 09/11/2008 05:58

Walter? URGH.

fizzpops · 09/11/2008 08:48

Little bit bemused to see Robert as 376th most popular girls' name on that list... John and James also make the list.

Tell me that is a typo on behalf of whoever produced the list.....

AbbeyA · 09/11/2008 09:02

I think all those early 20th century names are horrible. A lot of the old people who have them hate them, so I feel sorry for all the little tots called Elsie, Winifred, Edith, Pearl,Stanley,Reginald, Ernest etc.
