unlike you i dont care what another parent names their child.nor would i start a thread sniggering about real names

lame attempt at being purposefully contentious

smacks of trying too hard

I like Lily.
But we named DD Evelyn rather than Evie so in my mind, it would make sense to use Lilian rather than Lily, but then that opens up the whole naming after grandparents in my family, and we'd get shouts of why didn't we use Margaret, or Bette, or Mavis, so we steer clear of Lily/Lillian (which is odd, as Lilian is actually Josephine, but thats another story)

I have plenty of names I like but cannot use due to pet association in the family, such as Jessie, Poppy etc.

Very lame. Well done for spotting it, and thank you for pointing it out. I shall think about what you have said.
Thanks again.

Don't worry Sophia - it's just SM's opinions and she's perfectly entitled to have them and voice them. As I do.

Really like Gerald and Hector and that is despite being the generation that watched "Hector's House". Wouldn't use Clarence but think Clary is kind of cool.

Remember thinking the same as bethoo but I chose the DSs' names because I liked them and didn't care what anyone else said. Mind you, still hankering after Henry and Ruth.

Periselene, your second day her, what a nice and thoughtful thread you have started.

Little bit unrelated but SIL is a nurse and actually had a patient called Siobhan, but the parents pronounced it like you spell it. I also went to uni with a medical student who treated a baby girl called chlamydia.

Not sure what a troll is, but I hope I am not one. Unless it is someone who ought to think before she posts, in which case I fear you are right.

Sadly one of my least favourite names is my own daughter's - Scarlett...

Loved it 6 years ago but really regret it now and it's become really overused in my area. Tend to just use her nickname now

QuintessentialShadow · 26/08/2008 13:22

sophiajane calls herself a goldfish, lol lol!

Thanks for really bad trolling pariselene, you gave me a laugh, sadly you may not have upset as many as you intended.

I fear that when people get going and actually list names, my DS's name might appear someone listed it as an awful name on MN the other week, and I LOVE it.

Report
bethoo · 26/08/2008 13:26
