Carter or Mason?

Our final two, bump is due in September.

Lots of surnames started out as first names, I dont see why it should matter if its a surname anyway!

i like both, but i do have a thing for surname sounding names.
don't let these spoilsports get to you though - Mason is number 55 on last year's top 100 UK names - not exactly obscure.
I also grew up knowing a Carter - the name has been around a long time and is perfectly acceptable IMO.

Your children do not need these overloaded non-names to make them stand out. These days - it's the plain trad ones which seem to mark them out as different in a sea of Kais, Harrisons, Jaydens, Madisons, Rubys and the like.

Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear - I know my views are rather old fashioned on this but it's pushy parent before the child is even born imho.

Mason the better of the two, my nephew is called that - I am more of the old fashioned school myself, but each to their own, it's not our kid after all......Edward Bravender sounds lovely though! As does Arthur Bravender

I like both but prefer Mason and they are both first names,though perhaps a little more commonly used in America.

Hi my Surname is also Bravender..I have two boys Jack and Thomas. My brothers and sisters are called Julie, Angela, Lisa, Micheal, John, Paul and I am called Anthony. All straight forward names, which I believe go well with Bravender.

You have a great surname - pick something a bit more classic. I like Johnny Bravender if that helps - sounds like a private detective....

I don't hate them quite as much as everyone else, but agree that you have a lovely surname and classic names go much better.

would go for mason - know of one and he's v sweet, but not really my cup of tea.

agree with the idea that you need something short and sweet for such a long surname? Tom, Jack and James all good but prob not to your taste?

I'm really sorry to jump on the (negative) bandwagon but I don't mind the names too much (although not my personal taste) but don't think they go particularly well with your surname..... sorry

Thought Mason was a girls name theres two in DD's school.
Carter doesn't go with your surname, which I love btw it sounds really strong.
