Is Emily Rose too dated, or still a timeless baby name?

I like classic no nonsense sounding names and think Emily rose is very pretty although im very aware Emily is dropping in popularity from its peak in 90s-00s it ranks 34 so not unheard of but i doubt ill meet many babies with it these days.

I’d be open to other suggestions for middle names but I’m def picking Emily. I know rose seems to get eye rolls on here as middle because it’s very overused but it seems to flow great with any name. My ds told me that her daughter who’s 22 went to school with a lot of Emily roses and says its a very 2000s cutesy type combo and sounds abit dated now and overdone similar to how Olivia rose, Ava rose etc is now. It does sound like a type of combo that got popular very quick while Emily itself was peaking even tho rose is very classic of course i can tell most Emily Roses are born in early 2000s. Should I avoid this combo if i want a timless name? or choose different middle name that sounds less cutesy and more formal like Catherine, Elizabeth etc something slightly more dignified?

any suggestions would be appreciated

Emily rose was one of the trendier feeling middle combos for Emily in 2000s where I was from, it got popular very quickly so yes u agree that most sound be early 20s by now.

it’s still classic but it’s not as traditional or timless as Emily Catherine, Emily Jane etc which are very classic and you genuinely couldn’t pinpoint. Emily rose was very clearly a trend name of the time when rose became THE middle name. It’s nice enough but yes it’s common now and done.

how about Emily Rosalie or Emily Rosa if u what something similar but more classy.

I wouldn't use Emily Rose it as a combination, due to the horror film.

Emily as a stand alone name is fine though, less popular than it was but definitely not dated. There are still plenty of girls called Emily who are primary school age. Just pick a different middle name.

Emily is a lovely name!

my daughters middle names are Emily Iris.

i do like traditional names

I agree about the film and also think that it has had an impact on its popularity which makes it even more of a time. The film came out in 2005 and the hoard of emily roses where born before the film even came out so it probably took steep dive in popularity together after that .

Timeless.

FoxHedgehogBadger · 04/06/2026 17:40

Emily is a beautiful, timeless, classic name.

Emily Rose is just, meh.

Emily with literally any other name would be perfect!

ChloeCannotCanCan · 04/06/2026 17:46

Emily is lovely, I like it less paired with Rose as it feels a bit dated.

how about:
Emily Iris
Emily Flora
Emily Claudia
Emily Jane
Emily Claire
Emily Clara

Bellybellas · 04/06/2026 17:51

I know at least 3 Emily Roses. It feels ubiquitous.

HarryBlaster · 04/06/2026 18:41

My daughter is 10 and has this name. The Rose as a middle name though, not double barrelled. She seems to like it and I still love it.

Clearinguptheclutter · 04/06/2026 18:44

Emily is timeless

Emily Rose is not. So many girls are something Rose/Grace/May it makes it so boring IMO

Pair it with something more original

FTMJul26 · 04/06/2026 18:47

Just reminds me of the horror movie also

Meadowfinch · 04/06/2026 18:48

It's beautiful OP. Your dd can shorten it to Em, keep it as Emily or use her second name.

NamingNoNames · 04/06/2026 19:09

Horror film and a combination that's meh. Pick a more interesting middle name or she'll probably have a namesake.

cramptramp · 04/06/2026 19:09

Timeless.

SunshineSpice · 04/06/2026 19:14

It’s objectively pretty but yes a bit dated. Emily Catherine would be lovely.

bananaapplepears · 04/06/2026 19:16

I thought of the horror film. I'm sure theres been other threads asking about this exact name combo if you do a search.

orangetriangle · 04/06/2026 19:16

what about Emillie instead makes it a bit more modern i think

Sidebeforeself · 04/06/2026 19:18

It reminds me of that silly poem

Emily Rose
Sat on a pin
Emily rose
Again

Pinkgin00 · 04/06/2026 19:18

Emily is a timeless name, not sure about pairing it with Rose though. Have you had any other thoughts on middle names?

I hope this is a joke

Chelseaflowershowcrisis · 04/06/2026 19:20

I've met an Isobel Pearl which i think is a lovely combination and more unique than Emily Rose.

Middle name Pearl would be sweet!
I love the middle name Grace too although previously mentioned that it’s another popular middle name.
Rae/Wray is another fave middle name of mine too, and Belle

Emily Rae
Emily Pearl
Emily Grace

SeditiousPam · 04/06/2026 19:38

I don’t know about dated - to me it sounds … colourless. Lacking spark or verve.

franksmama · 04/06/2026 19:45

I’ve always loved the name Emily. Rose is beautiful, but I only like it as a first name because it feels like a ‘filler’ middle name (it’s the 2020s version of Louise!) and there is a well-known horror film with Emily Rose as the titular character.

Emily Rebecca
Emily Jane
Emily Victoria
Emily Maria
Emily Georgina
