Only like caroline I'm afraid. Daphne will forever be Daphne broon from the Broons for me I'm afraid!!! veronica I don't like - sorry!!!! Know of some veronica's - shortened to vera, rik and Ronnie

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/06/2008 14:52

I have a sneaking liking for Veronica, not sure I'd get it past DH tho... Nika/Nica is another shortening I've heard.

cosima · 21/06/2008 14:54

in french Veronique is shortened to Vero. very nice.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 14:54

I love Daphne
really old style glamour
I knew a Veronica I wasn't keen on, so not for me

eekamoose · 21/06/2008 14:57

I love Daphne. If I'd had a third dc who was a girl, she would definitely have been Daphne (my previous mumsnet name was Daphne as well).

I know two Veronica's who are shortened to Ronnie. Think that's rather nice too.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2008 14:59

Don't really like any - but can offer Vanessa as a possible V name ?

noddyholder · 21/06/2008 15:02

I like daphne too but not keen on the othrs.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2008 15:03

Daphne reminds me of water fleas

luckymummy74 · 21/06/2008 15:03

only like Caroline, sorry, you said honest.

Heated · 21/06/2008 15:04

Caroline or Daphne for me, probably Daphne as its OLC & I like the Greek mythological associations - you could go the whole hog and name her Daphne Laurel

Not a fan of Veronica despite it being MIL's mn because her mother liked Veronica Lake. But I love Vivienne/Vivian.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/06/2008 15:05

Vivien is pretty
or Verity

Nancy66 · 21/06/2008 15:47

don't like any of them sorry.

Veronica - makes me think of Veruccas - stupid, but there you have it.

Caroline - a bit old fashioned and not the prettiest name.

Daphne - one of those naff old fashioned names in same league as Yvonne and Barbara

LaDiDaDi · 21/06/2008 15:53

I don't like Veronica.

Caroline is ok, I like Caro as a nickname.

Daphne is lovely.

Bronze · 21/06/2008 15:54

Veronica makes me think of ballet

onelittlelion · 21/06/2008 15:55

I like Caroline and can be shortened to Carrie whic I like too.

minster · 21/06/2008 19:44

Caroline & Daphne are lovely.

greenelizabeth · 21/06/2008 19:46

Caroline is boring and I know loads my age. Lina or Caro or Charlie are the only nns I can think of. I'd rather Charlotte with Lottie for short.

Veronica is quite nice, although perhaps a little harsh, but Vero is glamorous I think. Ronnie is dodgy! Nica or Vica ? Verona???

Daphne is just one name I can't stand. It's ugly and weird and sounds like DAFT.

Tommy · 21/06/2008 19:55

have a good friend called Veronica. She is called V for short which makes her soiund like Vera Duckworth

jumpyjan · 21/06/2008 20:05

I really like Caroline - Carrie for short.

eekamoose · 21/06/2008 22:24

[not my thread but secretly thrilled that so many appear to like Daphne]

AbbeyA · 21/06/2008 22:25

I only like Caroline which I might have used if I had a girl.
Veronica is usually shortened to Ronnie.

Collision · 21/06/2008 22:26

Dont like any of them.

caroline is ok
veronica is not ok
daphne is daft

you do have to think of a name that will carry through life and I cannot imagine wanting to be 15 and called Daphne.......

Collision · 21/06/2008 22:27

and there was an awful character in Eastenders called ronnie if that puts you off at all..........

are you def having a girl? what are the boy choices?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 21/06/2008 22:28

Veronica is lovely, especially if it is shortened to Ronnie. Never thought of Vero, but that is OK.

Caroline is a great name.

Anna8888 · 21/06/2008 22:28

Veronica can be shortened to Vero or Roni.

Don't like either Veronica or Daphne.

Caroline is fine but a little dull...
