Ida, on the other hand, I can't see coming back. Knew one when I was very young. Haven't seen it used for decades.

I definitely see that coming back. Íde, the Irish version, is quite popular.

Tracey, Stacey, Shirley, Jacqueline, Sheila and other names that sound dated and old-fashioned but not "classic".

I can confirm that Agnes is back already.

Specialneedsnightmare · 28/04/2026 13:25

Vivienne. I'll be surprised if anyone is calling their baby that but anything is possible.

Also Valerie.

StrictlyCoffee · 28/04/2026 13:27

I know a young Vivienne

I can’t see Donna making a comeback

Lalgarh · 28/04/2026 13:29

Possibly with doctor who fans

I know a secondary school aged Ivy. It's not commonly used though.

Ivy is currently the 5th most popular girls name in England and Wales.

Angelina Jolie has a Vivienne.

I didn't know that. I just associate it with a character who was in Corrie years ago!

Heather, Hazel, Holly, Rowan are all lovely names. Not sure about Ivy though - still has that old lady vibe for me.

Ivy is practically common now - a couple in my kids very small school, one in my daughter's riding lesson and one at the farm we have our horse on. Usually hyphenated; Ivy-Mae, Ivy-Rae, Ivy-Louise and a couple of just Ivy's.

Viveca.

I can’t imagine Geraldine, Gillian, Sharon or Lorna coming back. Or maybe Michelle.

My parents had quite classic names, but gave me and my siblings very much horrible of their day 70s names. DH has a name never used now.

We have a Gillian starting our nursery in September. She is known as Gilly.

deeahgwitch · 28/04/2026 18:00

Maureen. I can’t see it coming back.
Or Pauline.

Really? Wow! Not so much by me, I guess. I'm only aware of one!

I know 2 at my grandchildren's primary school. There may be more. I think it's a nice name

AInightingale · 28/04/2026 20:21

Apparently there were zero Corinnas registered in E&W in the last year of data (2024). I think it's quite a nice name too.

Oh, I remember a time when you couldn't move for Etheldredas! It's really fallen out of favour, hasn't it? 🤔

Ah yes. It was a much simpler time.

I’d see Philomena coming back into fashion before Attracta or Concepta!

I think all 3 are highly unlikely to make a comeback 😂, along with Gobnait @UnlikelyIntimacies

What about Florence for a boy? I know a few who are middle-aged or older, but the 2025 CSO stats say three or fewer boys were called Florence.
