Middle name for Aurora?

EllieFox11 · 03/04/2026 21:30

Hello!

Pregnant with our first baby girl due in May!!

We have decided to call her Aurora. My husband is Italian and it’s his grandmothers name so we love it.

We just need to decide on a middle name…

The names we have are:

Aurora Imogen
Aurora Violet

Which one do you think flows better? We adore them both so we are hoping for some opinions to help us decide?

Any alternative suggestions are welcome.

TYIA❤️

I like Aurora Rose

Too much r r r. Rose is done to death. Deeply unimaginative filler name.

Don’t go with two vowel names. Pick a short name beginning with a consonant.
sounds much better. Some people have made good suggestions already.
if it’s out of the two you like use violet x

Lots of children and adults struggle with the R sound and she might be Owowa Wose.

Aurora Luce

You don’t have to have a middle name. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And?

The OP obviously wants her baby to have one or she wouldn't be asking. Most people in the UK have a middle name.

Have you eaten too many Easter eggs or something? Some random person said she felt sorry for people without a middle name. We don't need her pity. My name's fine.

I don't see that it would be improved by having a middle name and going by my friends' middle names it would probably be a filler middle name like Jane, Anne or Louise anyway.

Telling people to get a life is not something a reasonable person does. Now you are having a go at me too.

KnickerlessParsons · 05/04/2026 18:26

Aurora Dawn? 😀

StationJack · 05/04/2026 18:29

@Denim4ever , Only because you accused me of things. I only know of two people who have said they regretted not having a middle name and many people who disliked their middle name.

Aurora Imogen

Suggestions;

Aurora Jade
Aurora Joy
Aurora Eve
Aurora Kate
Aurora Tess

That too!

Pancakesandcream33 · 05/04/2026 18:58

I do not like Imogen. As others have said it doesn't flow. Don't understand all the vowel people, I love vocalic alliteration so my suggestion would be....Aurora Amelie. It's about finding something that flows nicely. Violet is lovely.

Lampzade · 05/04/2026 18:59

Joy

EllieFox11 · 05/04/2026 19:03

Speaking of the 1 syllable middle names. We really like Aurora Faye but I think my top ones are.

Aurora Genevieve
Aurora Esmè
Aurora Eloise
Aurora Amelie
Aurora Violet

I don't think any of your vowel middle names go sorry.

I like Aurora Faye best.

I agree. The vowelly middle name after a vowelly first name doesn't work,
and you get the eliding r at the end of an R-heavy name.

pteromum · 05/04/2026 19:15

Agree with the double vowel middle name issue

love
Aurora Belle
Aurora Skye

Aurora Dawn? 😀

I just thought this too!! I know it means the same thing, but the two names together sound lovely imo.

susiedaisy1912 · 05/04/2026 19:31

May.

StationJack · 05/04/2026 19:33

The same goes for the surname. I don't think that something like Aurora O'Reilly, Aurora Olivieri or Aurora Adams works,

susiedaisy1912 · 05/04/2026 19:31

May.

Or Aurora May Not.

SquirrelFan · 06/04/2026 11:29

Old - fashioned, perhaps overdone, but... Jane. It just sounds great with Aurora.

Yes I agree.

I always like the Janes and Roses as middle names. They have a way of "calming down" a more distinctive first name.

I think Aurora is so vowelly it needs a hard consonant to begin the middle name. Otherwise it's like gasping for breath when you surface from underwater.
