Hii. I'd be soo grateful for your opinions of the above names. Expecting baby #2 and it's confirmed to be a girl so now i get to obsess over names and browse girly toys and clothing.

My ex doesn't want to be involved so thought it might be good idea to join here.

TIA xx

Rebecca is lovely but I hate Becky.

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 12:13

Rebecca is ok but it was very popular in the early 1990s. Becky is ok but makes me think of someone my own age. Not keen on Becca or Bex.

Missyousomuchmum · 04/02/2026 12:43

I love the name Sabrina. It's so elegant.

I like Rebecca as a full name, but all the ones I know are in their 30's/40's and shortened to Bex.

Violet I neither like nor dislike.

mac111 · 04/02/2026 13:13

Rebecca is lovely but I can’t help but think of SATC, but that’s unlikely to be an issue amongst her school friends.
Violet and Sabrina also lovely, probably Violet is my favourite.

Banderz · 04/02/2026 13:37

Love Sabrina 😍

Banderz · 04/02/2026 13:38

The only Violet I know of is Violet Beauregard on Charlie & Chocolate Factory

BebbanburgIsMine · 04/02/2026 16:22

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 00:58

@BebbanburgIsMine My mother would probably say 'My Alberta is not, and never has been' about me

My daughter has insisted on her full name since she was old enough to decide for herself, now in her 30’s she still does.

I have always done the same with mine.

If she had wanted to be called Becky or whatever I would have respected that, but she never has.

ginasevern · 04/02/2026 16:35

Rebecca all the way. Violet (although pretty) is rapidly becoming over-used and Sabrina sounds a bit, well, tacky.

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 17:16

Violet isn't overused IMO but doesn't stand out when there are lots of flower names and names with V or L in them.
Sabrina is quite punchy. Rebecca is more classic.

Treylime · 04/02/2026 17:21

Rebecca is nice but it was a very popular name for the generation above her. Lots of her friends mums will be Rebeccas. I'm not sure want the most popular name from 30 years ago.

Bowling4soup · 04/02/2026 17:26

My sister is Rebecca but has been called Becky since birth. I love Violet
not keen on Sabrina due to Sabrina carpenter now. I used to like the witchy vibe though before she came
around

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/02/2026 18:23

I really like the name Rebekah.

Im not keen on Violet or Sabrina tbh.

How about Hannah or Heidi?

BobbieTables · 04/02/2026 18:26

They sound like an exceptional set of witchy triplets.
I like Rebecca best

Jamfirstest · 04/02/2026 18:31

Dd2 has a friend called Violet who is lovely but somehow dd2 pronounces it ‘violent’ and that’s all I hear now

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 18:33

It would be Vilet/Varlet here.

LlynTegid · 04/02/2026 18:34

Rebecca of the three, you need to consider what the shortened version would be as it is almost inevitable.

SanFairyAnnie · 04/02/2026 18:42

Sabrina Fair is a water nymph in the poem by Milton
with amber dropping hair
forget witchy vibes

Vilolet is very popular at the moment due to the fourth wing series. It's a big thing that 4/5 years when this cohort of kids start school it will be all fantasy characters!

I thought it was due to Maggie Smith actually!

Yes, I like Violet and always have before Downton era, but it is becoming a little bit too ubiquitous possibly.

I like Rebecca if I think of du Maurier, but not so much if I think of it as a Biblical name: the one in the Bible could be a bit of a sneaky trickster! I'm kind of on the fence.

Sabrina I'm afraid is just Bewitched, Halloween vibes and I think a different feel to the other two names? What about Seraphina?

Giraffehaver · 04/02/2026 22:31

@Moreteaandchocolateare you my mother?!

FC78 · 04/02/2026 22:33

@Isadora2007 She’s allowed to mother her daughter the way she wants to, same as all of us 🙄

TheActualQueen · 04/02/2026 22:38

Rebecca Violet

FC78 · 04/02/2026 22:41

Would it bother you if there were others in her class etc with the same name? I named my daughter Iris, not realising it was having a resurgence, and am irrationally annoyed that there’s another Iris in her nursery class (there were over 600 of them born in 2024 😄) saying that, I named her twin brother Magnus and of the 60-odd in the whole country born in 2024, I’ve already met two others in our baby classes 🤣 in case it helps, there were 1010 Violets born in 2024, 137 Rebeccas and 88 Sabrinas (data not yet out for 2025). Good luck choosing x

@FC78 , and @Isadora2007 is allowed to post her opinion.

About her own kid, not about anyone else’s

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 22:52

@FC78 , I didn't realise that you made the rules.
My DC got toys that were suitable for boys or girls.
Fortunately my parents didn't buy me 'girly clothes and toys'.

@Lollywollypop , I hope you meant that it was nice to look at dresses and the like. They are a change from the generally dreary colours of boys' clothes.
