Hii. I'd be soo grateful for your opinions of the above names. Expecting baby #2 and it's confirmed to be a girl so now i get to obsess over names and browse girly toys and clothing.

My ex doesn't want to be involved so thought it might be good idea to join here.

TIA xx

Violet. Rebecca is dated and has terrible abbreviations

Knitterofcrap · 31/01/2026 16:38

Rebecca is very millennial to me.

Violet makes me think of horrible Violet Beautegarde

Sabrina is a witch isn’t she?

PevenseygirlQQ · 31/01/2026 16:40

Rebecca is nice, reminds me of Mandy Moore in “this is us” a lovely show! Everyone else I know called Rebecca is a Becky, Becca or Becs so it depends if you mind those nicknames.

Also do quite like Sabrina

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlowers · 31/01/2026 17:06

Violet

cramptramp · 31/01/2026 17:13

All lovely. Be prepared for Rebecca to be shortened to Becky if you choose that.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 31/01/2026 17:16

I think that I'd choose Sabrina... purely because there aren't many of them around, so it is one of those names that makes you think, "Wow! How unusual!" (in a good way). It's recognisable, easy to spell, and definitely one to remember.

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/01/2026 20:41

Rebecca is my favourite, lovely classic. I really like Becca to. Looks lovely, sounds lovely, rare to meet a little Rebecca these days

I really like Sabrina too.

Violet is overdone and boring to me, also sometimes autocorrects to violent

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/01/2026 20:41

I do really like Viola though

Firebird83 · 31/01/2026 21:54

Sabrina

Why must she be prepared for Rebecca to be shortened to Becky?

It should only be shortened if the parents and or child say it can. I have a Rebecca and neither of us ever permitted any shortening of it. My own name is one that can be shortened but I have never allowed it to be.

It’s very ignorant and rude if other people call someone by a name which is not their preference.

Rebecca is gorgeous.
Violet is popular and a little twee.
Sabrina is nice. I prefer Serena and Sabine, due to witchy vibe.

You’ve no idea what she’s called when you’re not there.

AlbieJiggered · 01/02/2026 20:17

Depends on the surname. Is it Thwaite, de Winter, Beauregarde or Carson?

Marble10 · 01/02/2026 20:22

All so different! I like Violet.

Waitingformychinesetakeaway · 02/02/2026 13:34

I don’t like Violet at all. Sabrina and Rebecca are nice.

Of course not, but I said if the child herself uses her full name, and that is her wish then she should be called by that name. No-one should be calling her anything else.

When DD1 was little I corrected everyone who called her by a shortened version or nickname. I’ve done the same with my own name. I will not accept any shortenings.

DD1 is an adult and insists on her full name.

No-one has the right to call anyone else other than their preferred name.

DeeperShadeOfBlu · 03/02/2026 14:30

Rebecca. I’ve got a Rebecca and it’s timeless

500daysofspring · 03/02/2026 15:41

Sabrina is my favourite out of the three - really lovely.

I like Violet but it’s starting to become overused.

Rebecca is awful, sorry. Dated and dull.

Timeforatincture · 03/02/2026 15:45

Sabrina - pretty but a bit daft
Violet - too popular at the moment, there will be 5 in her class. Pretty though
Rebecca - timeless and elegant

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 03/02/2026 15:46

Violet!

FryingPam · 03/02/2026 15:48

Love Rebecca

DaisyChain505 · 03/02/2026 15:51

Rebecca is such a basic name. She’ll end up becoming a Becky and it just screams boring and basic IMO.

thisoldcity · 03/02/2026 15:54

Sabrina is a lovely name but rather glamorous sounding to me somehow. A kind of 1970s Bond girl sort of vibe. To me anyway!

Violet is lovely, very feminine and traditional but also with that hard 't' at the end so it's not a soft name like a lot of flower names.

Not necessarily.

She’ll only be a Becky if she chooses to be.

My Rebecca is not, and never has been.

AlbieJiggered · 04/02/2026 00:58

@BebbanburgIsMine My mother would probably say 'My Alberta is not, and never has been' about me
