@LolaBumble , not Welsh but how about Alice Penelope?

Erwain? Not seen or heard that before not even as a word. Would get said as Ur-wayne.

I know more than one Ceri who says it gets mispronounced. (Serry, Cherry, Cherie)

Eirian - gets said as Erry-un.

Lowri is lovely but gets said as Lowry like the painter.

Non - lovely but not sure it would work. Alice Non Bumble?

Erwain was quite common up here (NW Wales) in the 60s, 70s and 80s. We had a couple in school.

None of the Eirian’s (and there were 4 in my year) seem to have had any problems, including the two who now live in Laaaandan - apparently it ended up as Ay - reen once or twice but ok after that 😉

As for Ceri being mispronounced, even my relatively easy first name has been mangled so many times (mine is one of the ones being mentioned as a favourite) that I just shrug now.

I just tell people. I figure if they can manage Siobhan, Niamh or Saorse then they can damn well learn to pronounce Welsh names too.

But Alice Non Bumble doesn’t work. I’d not noticed the last name.

@MedievalNun Thanks. I searched for it and only got glamping site with an annoying contact form. It might be a local name.

OP probably isn't called Bumble but I used it as a surname. I know a few Nons and wouldn't think anything if I saw Alys Non Davies, but would if I saw Alice Non Davidson.

I've worked with 2 women called Ceri - one from SW and one from NW, and they both said the same. They said Serry, Cherry, Surrey, Surree, Cherie. Weird.

... if they can manage Siobhan, Niamh or Saorse.. but they don't quite get those right and it's Saoirse.

I've found it! Erwain is meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria).

@MedievalNun , it also means sweat according to the dictionary! Shock

Maddy70 · 18/01/2026 19:16

Alice Myfi is nice have you considered that?

GreenCandleWax · 18/01/2026 19:26

Gwenllian (pronounced with soft Gw and ll as in Gwenthian). It would go very well with Alice.

DanDin · 18/01/2026 19:36

pronounced with soft Gw and ll as in Gwenthian Absolutely not!

Arlanymor · 18/01/2026 19:36

Alys Efa
Alys Elin
Alys Ffion
Alys Nia

I think two lots of syllables in sequential names flows better.

DanDin · 18/01/2026 19:37
No TH in it.

Alice Eleri sounds like Celery

Only if you’re saying it wrong.

LashesZ · 18/01/2026 21:22

Alice Nia all the way! Welsh but not unpronounceable.

Alice Cariad

My friend's granddaughter is called Cariad. I think it's such a lovely name 💖

I was coming to suggest this. I have a Mabli and I love that name so much but I don’t think it flows very well with Alice. I love Cariad and it means love 🥰 also Eira goes nicely I think!

MeganM3 · 18/01/2026 23:34

Alice Angharad would be so adorable (and strong!) Alice is quite a flimsy / soppy name and then Angharad would give it some substance and strength. Together it’s nice.

Leavesandthings · 19/01/2026 00:41

I just love the name Ffion, always have!
Alice Betsan a poster above suggested I think works really well.
Sorry that wasn't on your list, I just love the name Ffion.

pinkgown · 19/01/2026 01:22

My godmother was called Aeronwy.

I've never met another one.

pompomtiddly · 19/01/2026 01:36

Alys Caron
Alys Caitrin
Alys Eira

DanDin · 19/01/2026 11:21

@pinkgown It's a name Dylan Thomas created for his daughter. It's Aeron (river name) +wy.

@pambeesleyhalpert , Cariad has several meanings not just love (see pp).
