For a boy. Suggestions in a similar vein (whatever that vein may be, as I’m not sure there’s a common thread) are very welcome.

Love Torin.
Magnus is nice.

CeciliaMars · 31/12/2025 15:07

Beare is awful. He’ll spend his life saying ‘Bear with an e’. The rest are ok. I like Torin best.

TomatoSandwiches · 31/12/2025 15:08

Magnus or Ciaran.

Poppins2016 · 31/12/2025 15:15

Zephyr, Angus, Bear (without the e)

MartinCrieffsHat · 31/12/2025 15:18

I know a family with the surname Beare and they say it as 'beer'.

Magnus, Torin, Ciaran are OK.
Fergus, Angus, Cillian?

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 31/12/2025 15:19

Magnus or Torin. Beare and Tully are… not great. Ciaran is ok but the variance in spellings will get annoying for him.

champagnetrial · 31/12/2025 15:22

Magnus
or, in what I like to think of as the same vein:
Ludo
Cassius

Oneforallandallforone · 31/12/2025 15:22

Torin is my favourite.
Magnus is next.
I really dislike Ciaran and Kieran for that matter.
Tully and Beare are surnames and neither are good in my opinion.
What about Tiernan? Its a surname (which you appear to like) and like Ciaran?

Beare is awful. He’ll spend his life saying ‘Bear with an e’. The rest are ok. I like Torin best.

Or 'Bear with an e. No, I mean on the end'. If you use it go with the standard spelling. Magnus is good.

LlynTegid · 31/12/2025 15:25

Magnus would be my choice. Ciaran is a name I would like but not wishing to give a child a lifetime of having to spell their name to everyone.

RegalDiamondMonster · 31/12/2025 15:30

Torin and Magnus are both great. Other ideas:
Angus
Robin
Wulfstan
Odin
Thorfinn
Hamish
Fintan
Taliesin
Tristan
Owen
Evan
Gawain
Crispin
Fabian
River

VikaOlson · 31/12/2025 15:30

Not Tully or Beare.
Sullivan nn Sully?
Ari, Asa, Gunnar?
Finn, Rowan?

GlitzAndGigglesx · 31/12/2025 15:44

I love Magnus and I also like Cillian which I think is a similar vibe.

Love Torin.
Magnus is nice.

Agree

Ciaran is alright, the other two are odd

Corin, Torben, Tristram, Linus, Stellan, Struan might be others

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/12/2025 16:48

I like Ciaran best. Torin and Magnus aren’t my favourites but are fine. I dislike Beare and Tully.

Do you mean “English” names??

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 31/12/2025 17:26

No, i mean, normal names, and not names that Tolkien would have given his dwarves in Middle Earth.

OccasionalHope · 31/12/2025 17:26

Magnus is great.

RuthW · 31/12/2025 17:28

Magnus

Ciaran and Magnus are very normal, human names?
