Can't decide on a name for baby girl

My second daughter is nearly two weeks old now and she doesn't have a name yet. I'm struggling to commit to one because I really regret my first daughters name and don't want to find myself in the same situation again. Please help me decide! Siblings names are Elysia (Lissy) and Harvey and our options are:

  • Faye (husbands top choice, I love this too but wish it wasn't single syllable, although I can't explain why that bothers me)
  • Lucia (c pronounced as chee)
  • Vienna
  • Selena
  • Felicity (would be my absolute top choice but it's too close to Lissy)
  • Madeleine

I like Faye.
Congratulations on your 👶

Pemba · 16/11/2025 11:04

I still find Madeleine absolutely beautiful. 2nd would be Lucia.

Selena is not bad, but I much prefer Serena.

Faye and Felicity are OK, maybe a bit of an overly posh vibe? I could be wrong about that.

I would say don't choose Vienna, too place name-ish. Plus of course the 1980s Ultravox song - Oh, Vienna!

Housewifehustle · 16/11/2025 11:14

Faye is sweet and has a nice rhythm when you say all their names in a row. The Y is continued, too, so looks cohesive when written. Congrats!

I like Felicity, Lucia and Madeleine the best. I agree Felicity is too similar, what about Romilly/Romy or Helena? I would use Faye as middle.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 16/11/2025 11:42

Faye - lovely, prefer the Fay spelling
Lucia - too many different ways of saying it (Loosha, Lucy-a, Loo-cee-a...), Lucy is lovely.
Vienna - awful. Goodnight.
Selena - not keen, different spellings (Selina, Celena...)
Felicity - nice but long. Flick is awful
Madeleine - nice, not keen on Maddie

A bit of a twist, Felicity nn. Fay, middle name Madeleine.

Ddakji · 16/11/2025 11:44

Faye is nice.

BasilandTom · 16/11/2025 11:54

Not keen on Faye. It’s says 40 something woman to me.
Not keen on Vienna either. It’s too close to Vienetta to me and is a place name.
Lucia is beautiful, as is Selena and Felicity. Madeline is nice but very popular and are likely to go through school with several.
I like another person’s suggestion of Romily nn. Romi or Mily.

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/11/2025 11:57

Elysia (Lissy), Harvey and

Selena is my favourite- pretty name.

Madeleine would be my second choice - I like Maddie as a nn.

Faye would be my third choice but it feels a bit dated to me, especially with your more modern sounding sibling names. Also my grandparents used to say “she’s a bit fay” to mean a bit shy / flaky. Although this generation probably wouldn’t think that!

Lucia has too many pronunciations.

Vienna is a just a place name to me.

Felicity - the one I know goes by Lissy and I don’t like the other nn options.

How about Fern, Serena, Lucy, Vivienne, Violet, Sienna, Leona,

Onefortheroad25 · 16/11/2025 12:06

I don’t like Faye at all. Definitely not Vienna.
Lucia is the nicest out of them all.
Madeline is ok, not keen on Felicity or Selena.

Hollyhobbi · 16/11/2025 12:07

How is Elysia pronounced?

lemondropsandchimneytops · 16/11/2025 12:08

How about Freya?

CottonPyjamas · 16/11/2025 12:15

A lad I went to college with had a girlfriend called Felicity whose nickname was Flick. She must have been one of the most naturally stunning young ladies I'd ever met!

Luxio · 16/11/2025 12:17

Honestly if both you and your partner like Faye I'd go with that.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 16/11/2025 12:18

Also my grandparents used to say “she’s a bit fay” to mean a bit shy / flaky. That's fey, means a bit dreamy.

Silverbirchleaf · 16/11/2025 12:19

Madeleine was the name that jumped if the page for me

However, Freya, nn Faye would be a good option .

LoudPlumDog · 16/11/2025 12:27

Faye is my pick.

Some suggestions:

Jade
Bonnie
Layla
Melia

PrincessHoneysuckle · 16/11/2025 12:53

Vienna

BoleynMemories13 · 16/11/2025 13:06

I love Lucia, pronounced the way you intend. Madeleine goes well with the siblings too.

Faye is ok. If you both love it, I don't think the single syllable thing matters.

I agree Felicity is much too close to Lissy.

The others aren't really my style.

KLRJ · 16/11/2025 13:33

Hollyhobbi · 16/11/2025 12:07

How is Elysia pronounced?

El-iss-ee-ya

I regret spelling it that way so much, but got caught up on the fact the more standard UK spelling (Alicia) could be pronounced Al-ee-sha. We didn't call her Felicity because I didn't like the nn Lissy and then she ended up a Lissy anyway 🫠

The regret I have around her name is what's making this so hard for me I think!

How about Freya?

Funnily enough Freya was one of my top choices for my first daughter, however the popularity put me off. I've since gone off of the name a little, possibly because I now know a few children called Freya and so associate it with them

Romilly is actually very pretty and not a name I'd considered before!

Felicity nn Faye would be my ultimate dream but it's just how close Felicity is to Lissy that is holding me back! Watch my daughter turn around and say she wants a different nn 6 months after deciding not to use Felicity again!

Faye is gorgeous. It goes really well with siblings names too .

MissyB1 · 16/11/2025 13:43

I love Faye and Selina (that’s how I would spell it). I would also suggest
Celine
Celia
and pp’s suggestion of Romily is a good shout.

That's how I'd have pronounced it but hadn't considered that it was an alternative to Alicia. For what it's worth, I think it's a lovely name. My DD has a very similar sounding name.
