Can't decide on a name for baby girl

My second daughter is nearly two weeks old now and she doesn't have a name yet. I'm struggling to commit to one because I really regret my first daughters name and don't want to find myself in the same situation again. Please help me decide! Siblings names are Elysia (Lissy) and Harvey and our options are:

  • Faye (husbands top choice, I love this too but wish it wasn't single syllable, although I can't explain why that bothers me)
  • Lucia (c pronounced as chee)
  • Vienna
  • Selena
  • Felicity (would be my absolute top choice but it's too close to Lissy)
  • Madeleine

Well, the baby will be a 40-something woman longer than she will be a cute toddler. Names must take the future into account, not just what is twee on a little kid.

I think maybe we are all meaning that it is a name that belongs to an era - not that a child in this era will grow into it.

@BasilandTom , Madeleine is the least popular of the names. Florence is the most popular (no.6 girl's name in 2024).

Feyre?? Like Fay but two syllables ‘Fay - ruh’

DuchessOfNarcissex · 19/11/2025 14:37

Awful. Did you get it from a book or something?

Melsy88 · 19/11/2025 15:00

How about Sienna rather than Vienna? Or Serena? Seren?

Of the names, I like Faye the best. It's a pretty name.

I like Lucia but prefer Lu-see-a pronunciation.

Are you thinking Farah ( as in Fawcett?)

I like them both, but together with Violet (which I also love) and Iris they seem to be popping up on every name thread lately.

They all had a bit more cache when my dc were babies a few years back.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 19/11/2025 16:00

@Calliopespa , sometimes names pop up because the same user started several threads under different names. I've noticed a couple of unusual names cropping up several times for a while.

Both Iris and Violet fit in the 'nature/flower names' and 'granny names' trends.

Fenella (nn Faye?) is a great suggestion!
I like Madeleine too.

I think Madeleine, Lucia and Felicity are all lovely names. With sister Lissy (Elysia) I'd go with Madeleine. (nn Maisie?)

Why use Maisie for a completely different name though?

Unfortunately I do agree with you that Elysia and Felicity are just too similar. Funnily enough, Felicity was my number one girls name that we couldn’t use as it was too similar to our first child’s name! We went with Charlotte in the end but Freya, Harriet, Norah, Caroline nn Carrie and Vivienne nn Vivi were all on our list.
Have you considered Serena instead of Selena? Personally I prefer it.
I do like Faye, very underused these days. I knew a Faye once, the now-ex of a family member, who was so bright, beautiful, funny and kind she may as well have been a Disney princess. It’s made me terribly fond of the name.
