Which do you prefer, husband's or mine's names?

So we both agree to only pick 2 names,
DH suggestions are : Carter and James.
While mines are Diane and Jane.
We are expecting a little girl. So his choices are a bit stupid to me.

Any thoughts

Never heard of Carter for a girl, except Agent Carter from Marvel 🤔🤔
But I knew a female Jamie as a teenager and she didn’t get picked on, so maybe that’s an option. I’ve also known two female Georges but they were both adults

I mean, the names (all of them) are the absolute pits, but why in God's name is "Carter the Farter" the phrase that sprang to your mind? Are you an 8 year old boy stuck in a 1979 time-warp?

Of the names you’ve mentioned @Blackish Emily is best. What about Emily James? Seems a good compromise to me!

Ahh sorry I actually dislike all of the above, all of the suggested typically girl names are really forgettable and the husbands boyish names are just bleh.

Carter (I don’t like it- but gun to my head it’s what I’d choose)
Diane (Diana would be much better)
James (I know a girl called James, it suits her)
Jane (dated, generic)
Carla (very of an era)
Emily (Emma, Ellie, Emmy…)

Do not let him a call a girl Carter or James - both will make her stand out in a bad way - she's not a pet, and she doesn't need to go through life feeling he wanted a boy (which I presume is the case). Just tell him he is being an absolute tit and close the conversation.

Jane is due a revival, so I'd go for that.

Or go for Emily - can't go wrong with that - maybe go for Carla rather than Jane as a middle name, to avoid the single syllable cliche).

It's too soon to revive Diane - it's still got aging barmaid vibes, Diana is lovely though.

Carter / James for a girl will not help her blend in and they would be awful names for a girl IMO.

Do you know any small girls? Ask them if they would like their name to be James or Carter in front of him.
