It sounds like a breed of whale.

Yes, a baleen whale.

That could be a nice twist on Eileen : Bay-leen

CrystalShoe · 09/10/2025 16:18

OP, ignore al the snobbery. It's different, and she'd have the choice of using the whole thing, or just Beau, or just Lilah.

I know Beau is a boys name because beau means handsome in French, but we are not French, and it looks like the first half of Beautiful to an English eye. You use Beau for her if you want! It looks and sounds really feminine. I always really cringed when friends used it for a boy. Conjures up images of a sickly, delicate, boy of yesteryear with a lace ruffle around his neck! 😂

PSA: It would be pronounced Bow Ly-la.

Bloody awful. Get a grip and think of your child !!

Someone once told me that before you name a child you should consider how it will sound when they're made head of MI6, and yeah I'm not sure this one passes that particular test.

lol like that one this def does not pass that test sounds more strip club then MI6 lol

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/10/2025 16:19

No.

Calliopespa · 09/10/2025 16:20

Jam-Beau-Lilah?

The only way I would do Beau for a girl is short for Isabeau. There are trad ways to get to Bo, too, if you want - Deborah, Bolina, Boleslava, Boann, Boadicea. Lilah (or Leila, Lila, Lyla) is fine on its own.

Layla is nice.

Instructions · 09/10/2025 16:21

They're both nice enough names on their own, but combining them doesn't work well

Zanzara · 09/10/2025 16:22

Bumdrops · 09/10/2025 14:10

Honestly that’s the chavviest name I’ve seen / heard for a while -

OP - what are your thoughts ?

Said Bumdrops. 😂

ChickenWingChickenWings · 09/10/2025 16:22

Sounds like a disease

PropertyD · 09/10/2025 16:24

Truly awful will be mispelt/mishear Have you been on the lemonades when you thought of this?

MrsTrellisOgleddCymru · 09/10/2025 16:26

Oh dear, no, just no.

baroqueandblue · 09/10/2025 16:28

Me and my friend have a running joke about double-barreled Christian names. We put them into the sentence "Iya our - luv!" (said in a Shameless/Corrie accent - and before anyone starts, I'm from the North-West myself) and amuse ourselves.

I can't wait to show her a screenshot of this thread.

"Iya our Beau-Lilah luv!"

UnctuousUnicorns · 09/10/2025 16:29

"it looks like the first half of Beautiful to an English eye"

It really doesn't. It looks like it's pronounced i.e. Beau, to rhyme with Blow.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/10/2025 16:29

No dont do it

Onmytod24 · 09/10/2025 16:31

Sorry, it’s not a name. It’s just a series of letters. Are you in an abusive relationship?.

NagathaCrispy · 09/10/2025 16:33

Just no! .... poor kid having to go through life lumbered with that.

Namechangerage · 09/10/2025 16:34

No, sorry. Beau for a girl maybe. I know a girl nicknamed Bo and it’s cute. There aren’t many names that can be double-barrelled like that and the Lilah adds nothing. She will just be called Beau so why not just name her that and Lila as a middle name? I actually quite like Beau Isla.

BotterMon · 09/10/2025 16:35

Absolutely not. Awful made-up silly name and Beau is always masculine.

Yoyokitten · 09/10/2025 16:36

Chuffing hell OP !!, That's so awful, poor kid

Stoufer · 09/10/2025 16:37

Sadly I would be tempted to use Beau-na-na as a nickname….

That sounds like a whisky.

youmustbeshittingme · 09/10/2025 14:12

Awful. Mainly because it’s two names that don’t go together at all and I dislike hyphenated names.
Even if I liked Beau as a name, isn’t it more of a boys name?

I would have said so

tiresomee · 09/10/2025 16:43

No.

LadyRoughDiamond · 09/10/2025 16:45

I teach a lot of children with hyphenated names. By Y9 they’ve always ditched one half and are furious when anyone uses their full name. I’ve had some embarrassing moments with parents who still insist on the full Elsie-May or whatever, despite the fact that their child hates it. The same often goes for cumbersome double-barrelled surnames - by the end of school they’re just putting one on exercise books, despite what it says on the register.

Remember, names are for children, not for the parents.
