Is baby's surname Vine? Beau would go quite well Wink

Peachy2005 · 09/10/2025 15:59

Absolute dumpster fire of a name. Didn’t want to insult hillbillies or trailer park dwellers, many of whom are lovely I’m sure. If the quest is to have a name that absolutely nobody else will have and that kid will have to spell out every single time for their whole life because their parent wants them to be uniquely special, kid won’t thank you. They usually name their own eventual kids Mary and John-type names.

you do know this baby is going to grow up go through school high school etc with this name untill they at least 18 and go to the deed pole office I swear some parents who give their kids daft names don't know this fact

Someone once told me that before you name a child you should consider how it will sound when they're made head of MI6, and yeah I'm not sure this one passes that particular test.

OP has not responded - I suspect it was just a click-bait thread to generate some frothing on a quiet day…

Skybluepinky · 09/10/2025 16:01

Just awful are you having a boy or a girl and stick with a name that fits that gender, not something you think is unique as unique names are often those that kids get bullied for and other parents think the parents that gave them those names are t*ats

Calliopespa · 09/10/2025 16:02

Bo-Tox?

Why, why, why, Beau-Lilah?

😂

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/10/2025 16:03

I read it as the placename Beaulieu. (pronounced Bewley). Makes about as much sense.

@w9828971
I like it. I think it’s pretty and musical, Don’t worry about what other people think though, the only person’s opinions that ever truly matters is your own.

If you are choosing a new name, to change your own to by deed poll, that's fair.

But the child risks having a name that is likely to result in her being teased at school, or not being taken seriously as an adult. So, I would very gently suggest the OP has another think.

I would not have been happy at all if I were named what is proposed. My life as a redhead with NHS glasses, who loved maths the most, was already difficult enough at school! The teasing from being named a word meaning beautiful, would have been horrific.

(Edit for ungainly wording in final paragraph. Sorry!)

On this thread we are being yoonique.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 09/10/2025 16:08

I'd just go for Delilah

Chesticov · 09/10/2025 16:09

OP is having us on guffaw guffaw

Househassles · 09/10/2025 16:09

The only way I would do Beau for a girl is short for Isabeau. There are trad ways to get to Bo, too, if you want - Deborah, Bolina, Boleslava, Boann, Boadicea. Lilah (or Leila, Lila, Lyla) is fine on its own.

Are you sure you are not thinking of bowl of coleslaw?
