Beau Nee Em (showing my age now).

I am not a fan of hyphenated names but I really like this. I think Beau is a lovely name for a girl. It looks and sounds girly and bows are quite girly. I think what you have flows nicely. Clearly im in the minority. (So many names used for both boys and girls so im not put off by the French use of the word)

FoxesSox · 09/10/2025 22:13

Depends, I have a friend in the traveller community who has a Beau-dahlia - sounds the same sort of thing? Is it a cultural fit? Just Choose a name that you like. All names are subjective.

Hi Op, I'm not a fan of both names together , the flow is peculiar . However I love the name Beau and it is the given name of my youngest girl. People always harp on about it being the masculine spelling in french for a boy . I was well aware of this when i chose it, i studied french in uni but language is fluid and ever changing and I like the sound and the spelling . My feisty Beau who at five yrs old loves martial arts could never be a dainty Belle . She owns her name. Her second name is Alexandra but we don’t use that day to day. Some girls suit masculine names Stevie Nicks , Daryl Hannah , Glen Close to name a few . ❤️

Those women ‘suit’ those masculine names, simply because we don’t know them any other way.

UnctuousUnicorns · 09/10/2025 22:25

In the examples above, Stevie is short for Stephanie, Glenn for Glenda, and Daryl (or Darrell if you're Enid Blyton) isn't necessarily a boy's name, and doesn't even sound particularly masculine imo.

Cherrytree86 · 09/10/2025 22:26

It’s lovely, OP. It’s totally unique and shell be the only one in her class with that name and that’s really important.

brunettemic · 09/10/2025 22:27

It’s looks like someone threw some letters up in the air and that’s how they landed.

Arcencielle · 09/10/2025 22:27

It’s got to be a wind up

Travelfairy · 09/10/2025 22:30

Horrific. Please dont name your child that whoever you are.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 09/10/2025 22:30

She will spend her life spelling it out. Pain in the ass.

Except it’s not just a French male name, it’s a French masculine word only used for boys. Belle is the female equivalent. It would be similar to a French person calling their daughter Prince because many names are unisex these days.

Some names just cannot be unisex.

ilovepixie · 09/10/2025 22:39

Great name for a porn star. For a baby? No!

very true …. My girl suits her masculine name as she won’t be known by any other and she wears it well !! As perhaps OP’s will … maybe minus the Lilah ❤️
