Conservative but out there boy name?!

So, I’m having a boy. Names-wise, I.Did.Not.Prepare.For.This.

For a girl, I would have punted Céline, Margot, Audrey, Vivienne (Vivi), Anaïs, Genevieve, Bridget etc to DH.

My own name is rare but not a weird name, so I’ve always liked that - people have heard of it, but don’t necessarily know someone else with it.

I’d like a name that was strong, a bit zhuzh-y with a sprinkle of eccentric but also fine for a CEO to be called! Does it exist?

This is our first. We have a double-barrelled aggregate four syllable surname, but I’d pick a vanilla-ish middle name so the whole name wasn’t totally nuts.

oddly in light of suggestions above. I have a 20yo Edmund Isambard 😆. He's an absolute delight, speaks 6 languages & is smashing his degree.

Shambling oaf & his flat's a biohazard, mind you.

I love Francoise going on the French theme. We have a Florian here ❤️

LilyJosephine · 10/05/2025 20:18

Maxim. Very international (including quite French like your girls choices, although I think they more often use the Maxime spelling), unusual but not unheard of (classic novel character Maxim de Winter, writer Gorky etc), perhaps seen as little bit UC or quirky/“eccentric” with standard Brit heritage but still absolutely “suitable for a CEO” - however still has everyday “vanilla” nn Max if he wants it.

I’d have suggested Maximilian but I think that might be a bit much with a 4 syllable surname (although it would certainly stand out! ). Similarly the variant Magnus - although that has more Scandi or Scots than French vibes. All variants of the name mean The Greatest -so you can’t get better inspiration than that.

HiddenInCubeOfCheese · 10/05/2025 20:20

I’m liking Magnus - this baby already looks like a chunker on the ultrasound, so would be fitting!

The benefit of Magnus means you can choose Max or Gus as the nn too, so he has more choice if he wants it too.
