Brother for Goddess-named sisters

Name changed for obvious reasons. I've shot myself in the foot with this one! I have two daughters, Artemis and Juno, and now I'm expecting a boy.

The obvious choice would be a mythological or God name, but I'm struggling to find one I like.

For context:
Artemis was named due to links to Artemisia of Caria (kick ass Persian naval war commander) and the Goddess as my Middle Eastern surname has a similar meaning to "Hunter".

Juno was one of the few names we had on our list and we just felt it suited her when she was born.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Caspar has always been on my list for a boy but it's the only name I have right now and DH is equally at a loss for ideas!

Aslan, continuing the Caspian theme.

Just be glad it wasn’t Balonz.

He was the baddie in a recent drama on TV. But it was his gang name, his real name was Joe

Hector or Castor, as suggested by others. Hector is probably the nicest guy from Greek mythology.
Also really like Cassian as pp suggested.

He's another baddie in the same drama! But I like the name.

Frey is a lovely name

Woodenteaspoon · 24/04/2025 10:40

Aengus is a god’s name.
Not sure it fits with Artemis and Juno though!

I loves Darius but DH vetoed it (both as Dar-i-us and Dar-e-us). We had Marcus (Agrippa, Antonious, Aureleas) as our choice. Technically deities given the roman predilection for deifying emperors and commanders.

Apollo would be my go to with your existing names. Also Perseus (not deity but on theme) and Hector. Paris could work but not sure you'd want the connotations!

Mixing up religion could work with Loki/Odin/Tir /Horus/Ibis

Good luck and congrats!

Brenin is a Welsh name meaning king, if you wanted something in keeping with the theme of strength but not obvious.

LadyRoughDiamond · 24/04/2025 10:54

avoid Kayden or Jayden unless you want all future teachers to shudder.

DonningMyHardHat · 24/04/2025 10:57

Caspian?

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 24/04/2025 11:02

Voldemort?

I am a strong believer in that siblings' names don't need to coordinate.

The sibling relationship isn't the most important in their life, after childhood, it's pretty unusual for people to refer to sibling groups.

My point is really what sort of boy's names DO you like, totally forgetting about your DDs names? Did you have a DS name lined up before you had your first DD?

I do think Alexander would be a good option for you though.

It's the Welsh word for king. Brenin Siarl III is King Charles III.
Please don't tell me people are naming babies this.
Babies called Brenin in England & Wales since 1996

@NameforBabyBrother , call him Duw.

(Do not call him Duw. It was a joke. )

Napoleon?

Going down the Duw route, Iesu Mawr could work too?

Zeitumschaltung · 24/04/2025 11:18

RedOnyx · 24/04/2025 11:24

Marius - derived from Mars.
Fenrir - not a god but mythology related

OldieButBaddie · 24/04/2025 11:29

I think Grist is a real surname. Smile

If you want a God name, of the names mentioned so far, I like Remus (Remi for short?).and Darius.

Would Idris be an option (both Welsh and Arabic)?

You could go really left-field and look at Ancient Egyptian gods - Artemis?

But I do think that having 3 Deity names makes it seem like a very deliberate choice to give him a name that fitted the theme. As others have suggested, something that feels like a strong name like Alexander (Sacha) or Nicholas might still fit with the other names but without feeling forced.

FigTreeInEurope · 24/04/2025 11:48

OMG Axaj, it's literally a brand name for bleach. He'd get bullied to hell in school, and feel resentful in later life. Each to their own, but teenagers in particular really need to blend in. Respectfully, this is fairly self indulgent parenting. Think what's best for your kids, how they'll fit into different groups of different demographics, and what an unusual, easy to ridicule name will do to their self confidence.

CurlewKate · 24/04/2025 11:54

Alexander.

Cherrytree86 · 24/04/2025 12:13

@NameforBabyBrother

just pick a name you like Op, it doesn’t t need to match a Greek god theme. Why would it?

Did you read the OP?

I quite like Mars, but I think it’s just me.
