Those with 3 and more DC - did you find it really difficult to choose third and subsequent names? I am finding it really difficult!

I have a DD and a DS
Love both their names

Now, I either think "meh" about names or I can't reach agreemetn with DH (he won't let me have Miles and Amelia the fucker)

I never had this problem with the other two!

I'm struggling on no. 2! Any suggestions on boy's names? Miles is out I think...

blinkingthreetimes · 15/05/2008 19:38

I have 5 it does get harder as you have to get names that sort of go with the others iyswim?

My dd's all have quite old traditional names .

Amelia is lovely BTW

MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:39

What sort of names do you like? Tradition or exotic (!)

I'm v traditional

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:40

traditional

the problem is I have a very picky DH who is stubbornly clinging to the idea that if it's a boy he will be called Jocelyn

MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:41

Jocelyn? [horrified]

Please don't inflict Jocelyn on the poor little boy!

James
Sebastian
Christopher
Charlie
Marcus
Lucas
Alexander

the only vaguely acceptable name so far is Charles and I don't love it. I can't see myself having a Charles IYSWIM.

Might be a good reason to find out the sex if we can, would save ooh 4 months of arguments

MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:42

You could have a Charles, known as Charlie.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:42

James I really like but Jim + our surname is hilarious. Couldn't do it.

I lie Alexander as well but there are a million Alexes round here.

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:44

Charlie is better, but still not quite right

I really like Edward, but no. Nor Gilbert (isn't that a nice name? And Gil a good short). Not even Xerxes raised any interest. BAH

blinkingthreetimes · 15/05/2008 19:44

Here try this name generator. stick in your surname and it finds names that go with it .

MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:44

Edward is DS's middle name

Xander is a nice shortening for Alexander

OP posts:
MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:45

Hmm
Thanks for that, but I was offered "Troy Karl" or "Sonia Lacey"

OP posts:
MamaG · 15/05/2008 19:46

LOL just got offered "Randy Danny"

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:46

that website is suggesting Abner. ABNER.

blinkingthreetimes · 15/05/2008 19:47

Ok I just tried it and got a TROY TOBY OMG

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:47

and Kendrick which is not an English name I have heard of
Abner Kendrick indeed

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:47

another suggestion was Trent. Which is a water company.

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:48

I take it all back

it has come up with Rastus Frederick Augustus

that is an inspired choice

I found it hard cos we wanted scottish names but not too scottish as they were growing up in England. They are all boys and we were running out of options. DS3 is due in a few weeks and were set on a name finally

Chances are you'll probably come to love it hatrick. How long do you have to get used to it?

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:54

Can you tell us what it is Hatrick? I seem to remember one of your options was Cyrus, which I like a lot

(Dh, as you may have guessed, does not)

in fact I used to know someone called Xerxes Cyrus Madza which is a very cool name indeed (2 kings and a God)

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 19:54

mazda that is
