Those with 3 and more DC - did you find it really difficult to choose third and subsequent names? I am finding it really difficult!

I have a DD and a DS
Love both their names

Now, I either think "meh" about names or I can't reach agreemetn with DH (he won't let me have Miles and Amelia the fucker)

I never had this problem with the other two!

magnus is cool

MrsJohnCusack · 16/05/2008 12:33

ROFL at the name generator

it gave me JOshua Wayne, Guy Randolf (!), Cassidy JOy and Cassandra Lynne

SixSpotBurnet · 16/05/2008 12:34

For DS3 we used the name we liked best but hadn't been brave enough to use on the earlier DSs.

SixSpotBurnet · 16/05/2008 12:35

I can think of one very cool Mumsnetter with a Magnus.

EffiePerine · 16/05/2008 12:36

we are toying with Maximilian as well

better beard

and the patron saint of druggies and journalists (tautologous?)

I did use up my 3rd favourite girl's name on dd2's middle name, reasoning we were likely not to have a 3rd child and then only 50% chance of a girl. And then we had dd3. But there are loads of names we liked so it wasn't a problem. But in retrospect I would have maybe "saved" it.

Fennel · 16/05/2008 12:37

Magnus was the name of dd1's imaginary older brother, when we had just one child and didn't want to be PFB-ish, we used to pretend she had an older brother Magnus with strong needs and opinions. I quite missed Magnus when we moved on from needing him.

SixSpotBurnet · 16/05/2008 12:37

DS3's name has however been labelled - guess what - chav by the Court of Mumsnet before. Not that I give a flying one, may I hasten to add.

Enid · 16/05/2008 12:39

it suggested Gilbert, Claude and Quentin for boys names for me

MrsJohnCusack · 16/05/2008 12:39

oh and for 2 moiddle names - Alpha Dave Darren

classy

EffiePerine · 16/05/2008 12:45

I LIKE Gilbert

Enid · 16/05/2008 12:46

yes I quite like it

like Gilbert Blythe in anne of green gables

OrmIrian · 16/05/2008 12:47

I found it much more difficult with our first and third baby. We had a girl's name lined up so DD was easy. Neither DS#1 nor DS#2 had a name for about 48 hrs.

Hoe about Tertius. As it's your 3rd baby

SixSpotBurnet · 16/05/2008 12:51

Hatrick, give me a clue and I'll tell you if you are right!

aha I know pgrin]

not sussex either (unless there are 2 of them)

SixSpotBurnet · 16/05/2008 12:54

That must be a different one - the one I am thinking of has two DSs and lives in East London (which is a massive clue).

EffiePerine · 16/05/2008 12:55

prob with Gilbert (besides DH hating it, harrumph) is that we have a William already. And William Gilbert just reminds me of work. So not an option anyway

My DH is called Miles and I always find it really weird that there are people out there who consider calling their small children Miles...

I do like Milo, though.

The name I wish we could have used is Thurston, which is just gorgeous and awesomely cool (imo). But it is ludicrous with DH's surname.

I also did really like Lennon on the grounds that it is the river that flows through my home town but it also is pants with DH's surname. And then one of the Gallagher brothers used it for his DS so that comprehensively ruined it anyway.

cyteen · 16/05/2008 13:06

That baby name generator hates me I put my surname in and got things like Roy Steve and Alpha Bruno. Then put DP's surname in and got Alex James.

Thurston is a cool name, I considered suggesting it to DP on Sonic Youth grounds and might in fact actually do so.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/05/2008 13:17

Generator suggests DC4 (boy) is called:

Zander Asaph Nathan or
Howard Raphael Riley

We found girls names easier than boys, so decided and agreed on DC3 (girl) very quickly. This time it's another boy and it has been VERY hard. We still don't have middle names agreed.
