Even Mumsnet "similar" threads suggestions are all about Spanish locations....

Palma
mathanxiety · 12/03/2025 20:25

Phew, X post.

InMyMNEra · 12/03/2025 20:30

I don’t like it, but it’s definitely not the worst celebrity baby name

LilyFox · 12/03/2025 20:30

I hate palma violets so no.

TheFairyCaravan · 12/03/2025 20:31

I’m sure they did their pregnancy announcement on a beach in Mallorca because it’s one of their favourite places, so Palma obviously has a special meaning to them.

It wouldn’t be my choice of name, but it’s no worse than Brooklyn, Hudson, India etc imo.

LilyFox · 12/03/2025 20:32

Parma violets even.

But either way still no. Because you'll have idiots like me comparing to Parma violets

haufbiskiy · 12/03/2025 20:33

They go to majorca a lot so I suspect it is due to the place

Firenzeflower · 12/03/2025 20:34

Palma Wright.
Its awful.

and it looks terrible written down.

Fagli · 12/03/2025 20:34

Doesn’t sound too out there. What’s your concern? Do you see these people a lot? Do you think your children will bully them for their name? If so, maybe take a look at your parenting style. Personally I could not really give toss about what some random people named their child. Unless you’ve just started this thread for people to pile on and make you feel better about whatever you’ve called your children?

BoleynMemories13 · 12/03/2025 20:35

Awful name imo, but I guess it may have special meaning to them.

Clearly a very much wanted baby, so I'm pleased for them. It wouldn't be the celebrity thing to call her Olivia I guess.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 12/03/2025 19:10

I'm sure she'll be thrilled to know she's called Palma after where her parents had sex.

Yes exactly. Super naff

MinnieCoops · 12/03/2025 20:42

At least it's not overused Grin

Chuchoter · 12/03/2025 20:44

Bloody awful.

whatsthatBout · 12/03/2025 20:46

I’m not keen. It’s not atrocious but all of the thousands of lovely girls names and they choose Palms?

Yorkiepud2333 · 12/03/2025 20:50

If it is pronounced Pal ma, I really like it

unlikelywitch · 12/03/2025 20:54

Palma is a fairly common, but perhaps a little dated, name in Spain. I think it’s pretty but doesn’t work with the surname Wright.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 12/03/2025 21:06

It wouldn't be my choice but there are far worse children's names around. I think it's ok and not ridiculous.

shellyleppard · 12/03/2025 21:07

I thought of the sweets from my childhood.... Parma violets 🤩🤣

Iloveacurry · 12/03/2025 21:09

Nope don’t like it. A bit ridiculous to be honest.

It will be soon! I predict an influx of baby Palmas soon.

ladygindiva · 12/03/2025 21:13

Horrendous. Weirdly if you stick an o in it you get Paloma, which I think is lovely. Mad how one letter makes such a difference.

HereintheloveofChristIstand · 12/03/2025 21:14

I knew a Palma once! Wouldn’t be my choice but I do like it. And at least it can’t be shortened so an insufferable ‘ie’ nickname.

I was thinking the exact same thing. So close to being a lovely name. Paloma was right there!

Whatthefuck3456 · 12/03/2025 21:20

I wouldn’t call my child Palma however I think it’s a beautiful name
