Thoughts on this? Personally I'm not keen but DP likes it for our 3rd DD. Think it sounds a bit chavy tbh.

Dreadful name IMO.

BootballJoy · 07/03/2025 18:30

The heaven backwards thing just feels too gimmicky.

It does actually have a pretty sound though. Doesn't sound much like Nivea as the accented syllable is in a different place.

If you are looking for modern religious-inspired maybe Eden? Or if it's three syllable names maybe Anaya/Amara/Amaia/Soraya/Talia/Alina/Eliza/Alisa/Elena/Carenza/Savannah etc.

mummyh2016 · 07/03/2025 19:06

Sorry I hate it. One of DD has a friend with the name but for some reason her mum has put a Y in it and it really grinds my gears. Not only that but it's really common now, there are a few at school and every club DD does out of school has at least one neveah in.

Lufwa

sanityisamyth · 07/03/2025 23:13

It's awful. Why not lleh? Or yks?

Wendolino · 07/03/2025 23:14

Awful. Definitely chavvy

TeenLifeMum · 07/03/2025 23:16

Why you’d name a dc with a name linked to dying is beyond me.

Wendolino · 07/03/2025 23:20

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 07/03/2025 16:03

Very chavvy. There is one in my kids school. We are east London so it's pronounced "Nav-ayyy-yarrrr" .
Also isn't there something a bit sinister about Heaven but backwards? Like a bit satanic or something!

Yes like you can summon the devil by saying nevaeh three times while spinning around

Richiewoo · 07/03/2025 23:52

It's one of the worst names I've ever heard. Sounds cheap and tacky.

Papadonut · 07/03/2025 23:58

Yuck. Chavtastic.

sesquipedalian · 08/03/2025 00:00

Poor child: she’ll have to spell it out every time, and I would be wondering how to say it. Put it in the bin and find your DD a different name for her sake!

Sockmate123 · 08/03/2025 00:01

Chavvy and done to death 🙈

YourAmberFawn · 08/03/2025 22:08

Hate, hate, hate.

Agree that it sounds chavy

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/03/2025 22:13

Truly dreadful!

Wimpod · 08/03/2025 22:14

Nope.

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/03/2025 22:34

NO!!!

TaggieO · 08/03/2025 22:44

It really, REALLY annoys me that people say Nevaeh is Nev-ay-ah. It’s NOT. Heaven backwards would be Never-eh.

Printedword · 08/03/2025 22:45

MistyF · 07/03/2025 12:16

Basically Nevea. Nev-ay-a. Some say it Neeva.

Makes me think of Nivea hand cream. So a no from me

crackfoxy · 08/03/2025 22:45

Awful. Just awful. Sorry op

sel2223 · 10/03/2025 03:47

Literally my least favourite name, just awful

mathanxiety · 10/03/2025 04:45

Cattery · 07/03/2025 12:06

How would you pronounce the name?

Ne-VAY-uh.

BridgetJonesesOwl · 10/03/2025 04:50

I used to think it was a chav name until I met the most loveliest delightful little Nevaeh
I think anyone being anti the name is a person with a carrot or 3 up their arse!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/03/2025 04:59

It's tacky.

mathanxiety · 10/03/2025 05:05

It's a pleasant sounding name. Part of the opposition to it here is that it's American and also not middle class. I personally like it a lot more than the very MN-approved Imogen and Verity.
