Having trouble with BOYS names - what do you think of these???

looneytune · 09/05/2008 09:51

We have been told we're having a boy and are struggling to agree on names. We both agreed on a girls name no problem but boys names are proving a problem.

Dh and I have totally different ideas or if we both like a name, one or both can think of reasons for not wanting to choose it (i.e. someone we know with that name etc.)

This time round it's my decision but we both have to be happy (last time dh chose - he would have gone for Elvis and I said no way! but agreed on using his middle name instead so ds is called Aaron).

Anyway, here are some names dh has put on a list:

Kie (I'm sure this should be Kai though )
Rhys
Max
Phoenix (I'm really not keen)
Marcus (again not keen myself)
Christian

It needs to suit our surname of course, which begins with C.

So, what do you think?

TIA

I like Marcus and Christian. Phoenix and Kai a bit Hollywood.

Amapoleon · 09/05/2008 09:58

I like Max.

schneebly · 09/05/2008 09:58

Max is ok but there are a lot of them around. Not too keen on the others sorry MrLooneytune!

singersgirl · 09/05/2008 10:01

Max, Marcus, Christian. My favourite is Christian, though perhaps not if your surname begins with C.

mustsleep · 09/05/2008 10:06

i like christian but it will porb end up getting shortened to chris

can totally sympathise with you though s me and dh ae in exactly the same boat and have just found out we are having a boy !

looneytune · 09/05/2008 10:28

Yeah, thought the same about Phoenix. I don't mind Kai but I don't think it suits the surname.

As for Max....I actually don't mind than name but can't help but think of Max from Eastenders (and ds says Max and Ruby lol). Would personally prefer something a little bit different iykwim.

Christian would feel better to me if it wasn't for the fact we have a surname beginning with C. When I say the full name, it just doesn't sound right.

Well, we need all the help we can get so if anyone fancies throwing ideas our way, would be much appreciated

mustsleep - good luck!! We've known this one should be a boy for nearly 14 weeks now and just can't decide!!!

Didn't realise you were having problems name choosing as well Looney.

looneytune · 09/05/2008 10:38

Hiya Sophie Yeah we are!!! So much other stuff has been going on over the weeks that it did get put on hold but now things are looking ok again, we're back to concentrating on TRYING to get some names we are BOTH happy with!! How are you anyway? I'm just having a break whilst my 2 baby mindees are napping

OP posts:
cyteen · 09/05/2008 10:41

I don't really like any of them, sorry (obviously it's your choice though). We too are in exactly the same position - had thousands of girl's names, so inevitably are having a boy! It's taken us weeks to come up with just three possible names...

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 09/05/2008 10:41

Kie (I'm sure this should be Kai though ) - this name has been chosen by my brother's 17 year old ex girlfriend. It's a bit teenage IMO.
Rhys - nice
Max - v nice
Phoenix (I'm really not keen) - Noooooooo
Marcus (again not keen myself) - ok
Christian - nice

TsarChasm · 09/05/2008 10:41

Erm...

Emmett
Blake (as long as your surname isn't a C for Carrington)
Jay
Miles
Seth
Adam
Rowan

sophiewd · 09/05/2008 10:41

Working up the enthusiasm to reconcile last months books and bank statements, physio helping on muscle problems and bookings are busy for May, but just under 6 weeks to go so looking forward to that.

Bump is also called Elvis by DH.

Hope you are enjoying your mini break.

branflake81 · 09/05/2008 10:42

Kie (I'm sure this should be Kai though ) - OK
Rhys - chavvy
Max - nice
Phoenix (I'm really not keen) - NO!
Marcus (again not keen myself) - Really like this
Christian - OK, though suspect he'd be called Chris

looneytune · 09/05/2008 10:50

Kat - PMSL at Kai being teenagerish Dh is 15 yrs older than me and actually nearer 50 so think he'll also find that funny Having said that, in fairness some of those names did come from people at work suggesting things and think they are all quite a lot younger!

Tsar - thanks, will think about those Quite like Jay!

Sophie - not long eh! When do you finish? I'm finishing 2 weeks before and can't wait!!! Counting down the days now! Don't get on ante-natal thread much, it's far too fast for me Hope you get books sorted etc, it's all work, work, work isn't it! Didn't know about muscle problem but pleased it's getting better LOL at bump being called Elvis

Loving the NOOOOOO's at Phoenix MrLooneytune.....are you reading this???

LAst booking is on the Sunday 15th and going into hospital on 19th then next booking on 27th> DH will be doing most of the work from then and we do have a lovely lady coming in to help as well.

looneytune · 09/05/2008 10:58

Bet you can't wait to rest, I know I can't!! I'm soooo looking forward to 6th June - 12 weeks off What you going in hospital for?

Sunshinemummy · 09/05/2008 11:03

I like Marcus and Christian.

jellybeans · 09/05/2008 11:05

Kie- not that keen but it is OK
Rhys- like it
Max - like it abit
Phoenix- don't like
Marcus - really like this
Christian- not that keen

sophiewd · 09/05/2008 11:06

Having and elective section.

Shoshe · 09/05/2008 11:09

Hi LT love Marcus (but then did choosse it for DS2)

Like Kai as well, Musy be something about being almost 50

Tommy · 09/05/2008 11:10

I think it has to go with Aaron which is a lovely "old" name so Kai and the others wouldn't IMO

Max is very common at the moment (as in a lot of them!)

Rhys is very definitely Welsh so if you aren't I wouldn't go for that

Marcus or Christian would be my choices out of those but, TBH, I'm not too keen on those either

barking · 09/05/2008 11:16

What about Felix - a sort of amalgamation of Max and Pheonix?

looneytune · 09/05/2008 11:19

Thanks everyone.

Hiya Shoshe

Sophie - OMG, are you only having 4 days off? No way could I rush around with all these little ones that close, at least I have 2 weeks before due (plus worry that I'd go into labour whilst I have them all here and their parents are working! lol.

barking - I couldn't purely because we used to always feed our cat with Felix cat food

OP posts:
AbbeyA · 09/05/2008 14:21

Sorry - I don't like any. Possibly Rhys-but only if you are Welsh.

katyjo · 10/05/2008 11:30

Big wave to sophie and Looney !!

Having problem with names too, esp boys keep checking these threads regularly, so not really any help.

What about Lucas if dh likes Marcus. Not keen on Phoenix.

Like I said no help really. I like Nathan and Zach but dh doesn't like either although only alternative he has given me is Brock (think he was an aussie racing driver) men eh!!
