Having trouble with BOYS names - what do you think of these???

We have been told we're having a boy and are struggling to agree on names. We both agreed on a girls name no problem but boys names are proving a problem.

Dh and I have totally different ideas or if we both like a name, one or both can think of reasons for not wanting to choose it (i.e. someone we know with that name etc.)

This time round it's my decision but we both have to be happy (last time dh chose - he would have gone for Elvis and I said no way! but agreed on using his middle name instead so ds is called Aaron).

Anyway, here are some names dh has put on a list:

Kie (I'm sure this should be Kai though )
Rhys
Max
Phoenix (I'm really not keen)
Marcus (again not keen myself)
Christian

It needs to suit our surname of course, which begins with C.

So, what do you think?

TIA

Definitely not any name with K, such as Kie, Kyle, Kay and all the possible variations. Please!

I'm back and still struggling!!

We've now scrapped the other list and wondering about these names and also looking for more ideas:

Billy Miles Joshua Max

Remember surname begins with C and ds is called 'Aaron' and we'd like it to sound ok with that iykwim.

3 weeks to due date and we're starting to worry a bit about our indecisiveness

Would you use Max and Billy as nns but give them a 'full' name, or would those be their full names?

Hulababy · 01/06/2008 12:49

From you new list I like Max and Joshua. I prefer Joshua of the two, but don't like the shortning Josh.

Would you use a longer version of Max for his birth ceetificate?

looneytune · 01/06/2008 12:53

I'm not sure on the Max thing re: full name, it's not my favourite personally.

Joshua is one that I had down 5 yrs ago when we went through all this with ds1.

As for Billy, we like it as 'Billy' so would probably keep it as that on the birth certificate.

Oh, decisions, decisions!!! Problem this time is it's MY choice and I'm sooooooo indecisive, especially when hormonal!!

Hulababy - I'm the same and don't like Josh for short

Joshua seems to go best with Aaron. Both biblical. I knew one and he was lovely, even as a teenager! Also, he was never known as Josh. His nn was surname based.

LaDiDaDi · 01/06/2008 22:15

Ooh, tricky one. I like Billy most I think (though I would always give a formal name on bc) but Joshua def goes best with Aaron.

gauly · 01/06/2008 22:31

Elvis's twin who was stillborn was called Jesse - kind of goes with Aaron I think - don't know if you want so much of an Elvis theme though.

hayley2u · 01/06/2008 22:44

seeker · 01/06/2008 22:48

what about Kier? You don't hear it much nowadays, and it sort of fits with your dp's taste>

hayley2u · 01/06/2008 22:49

or kieran thats such a lovely name

lotspot · 02/06/2008 18:13

My favourite is Rhys (spelt like that - dislike reece) and i think it sounds nice next to Aaron (sorry having twins - top of our list what names sound like together lol)

however i agree that really rhys is only really nice in reality if you're welsh

lotspot · 02/06/2008 18:31

woops didn't see that there was a third page

on your new list i like Joshua

looneytune · 03/06/2008 22:23

Thanks for all your help ladies We're down to Joshua or Billy but most probably Joshua (which is what our Aaron was going to be called 5 yrs ago til dh mentioned Aaron instead). Just need to think of middle names that go now

But just remember that you might choose a name and he may not look like he should be called a 'Billy' or 'Joshua'. I had Jake lined up, and he looked nothing like a 'Jake' when he was born - it really threw me! After a nameless few days up popped 'Callum' from nowhere, because he looked like thats what he should be! Suits him to a t!

looneytune · 03/06/2008 22:51

Oh, I know......like our Aaron just looked like an Aaron in the end and not a Joshua etc. Just good to have something in mind though after all the being unsure
