What comes to mind when you think of a family living in London with two children named Felix and Casper?

Actually, if you hadn't posted in baby names, then I'd definitely think cats 🐈

Sunnyflow · 01/01/2025 15:42

Felix is a well known cat food brand in the UK!

I's think.....what lovely names.

dogwlllwalk · 01/01/2025 18:14

Nice names. They are not unusual.

Covidwoes · 01/01/2025 18:47

Wealthy parents with kids in private school.

Lindtnotlint · 01/01/2025 20:13

quite posh. I don’t mind the names at all but together they definitely give a strong ski/Tuscany/private school/nice car kind of vibe.

Cat and a ghost

I work with a guy called Kazpar, and he has a lovely cat called Felix. I’d think of them!

Posh

AgnesX · 01/01/2025 20:37

Erm, I'd think that you knew my mum and her cats (the cats were both Siamese).

Cat and ghost

MidnightPatrol · 01/01/2025 20:42

Would be normal round here, wouldn’t think twice.

eatreadsleeprepeat · 01/01/2025 22:12

First thought ghosts, second thought cats.

Aglassaday · 01/01/2025 22:12

Seems like a perfectly sweet and happy family!

RaraRachael · 01/01/2025 22:27

In London probably fairly OK but they'd be very odd choices where I am.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 01/01/2025 22:31

Sylvester and Tom are next, then a bear named Pooh please and a piglet named Piglet.
If they aren’t originally from UK the names could be chalked up to just being unfortunate.

strangeandfamiliar · 01/01/2025 22:36

Individually fine - both names are reasonably common in my bit of London - but together they do sound slightly comical and feline. Like Tom and Jerry.

TheSquareMile · 02/01/2025 00:36

My first though would be that the family might be from Austria, Germany (esp. South) or Scandinavia, as I think that both names are common names for boys in those areas.

I think that it would be spelled 'Caspar' in Austria. It's a name I really love, actually.

I went to a German University for a while and met men called Felix and Caspar then.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 01/01/2025 01:02

They'd really wanted cats but settled for children.

Or ghosts...

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/01/2025 00:45

I wouldn't think anything at all - those names were very popular at toddler groups near me 9 years ago (northeast London). My son has both in his school year and cubs.

SwirlyShirly · 02/01/2025 01:24

Oh!! I'm surprised by some of the responses here, I think the names are lovely together and you should go for it.

Strikeoutnow · 02/01/2025 01:35

Oh!! I'm surprised by some of the responses here,

They are quite predictable tbh.

In terms of the OP they wouldn’t raise an eyebrow, presume they are upper middle class &/or European. I’m in London though & Casper was a film I watched as a child so it’s pretty old!
