What comes to mind when you think of a family living in London with two children named Felix and Casper?

Twitwootoo · 01/01/2025 01:50

Pretentious

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 01/01/2025 01:50

@Twitwootoo pretentious because?

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 01/01/2025 02:14

Felix cat advert with the great Northern soul record..
Reuben.. you've been away.

CautiousLurker01 · 01/01/2025 02:14

First thought was …cats but upon reflection I might wonder if mum or dad were Scandi or German? Often watch euro TV series (Nordic Noir or the German equivalent) and they’re common names there 🤷🏻‍♀️

Butterfly292828 · 01/01/2025 02:16

Casper, was it a ghost?

FaLaLaLaCake · 01/01/2025 02:22

They are mummy and daddy to two "fur babies".

Starseeking · 01/01/2025 02:33

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 01/01/2025 01:02

They'd really wanted cats but settled for children.

This was the first thought that came into my mind 🤣🤣🤣

DefinitelyNotMaybe · 01/01/2025 02:33

Living in a flat where the slumlord doesn't allow pets so they had to give the names to their kids.

paranoiaofpufflings · 01/01/2025 02:34

Felix, I can only think of cats. I don't particularly like the sound of the name either. I think it's the "feel" sound I don't like.

Caspar, one of my favourite boys names, regardless of popularity - it's popular for good reason. I don't think pets or friendly ghosts, to me it's a strong biblical name - Caspar was one of the three magi/wise men.

Tootjaskoot · 01/01/2025 02:40

I’d think you were Danish

Lunde · 01/01/2025 02:42

Pretty common in the Scandi countries - don't think we got through a school year without a Felix in the class and at least one Casper/Kasper in the year groups.

Also numerous variations of Oscar/Oskar and Åskar

Scrabbelator · 01/01/2025 03:33

Felix the cat and Casper the ghost

Berlinlover · 01/01/2025 03:36

Felix reminds me of Germany, Casper reminds me of Poland.

SquirrelsAreGo · 01/01/2025 04:12

Don't know if I should know this automatically, but are you asking because you want to name your second child Casper, or because you know a family like this and are madly judging?!

As it's written, I'd think cat food commercial.

If I was introduced to everyone in person, I'd probably not think about it past "sounds about right" or "I did NOT see that coming!" depending on my initial expectations/ how judgy pants I was being that day 😊

A cat and a ghost.

TangerineClementine · 01/01/2025 04:22

I'd think: nice names.

Dcbjgfdh · 01/01/2025 04:46

100% I would think they were “parents” to 2 spoilt cats! 🐈 🐈‍⬛

Felix the cat and Casper the ghost

Ditto. Would make me think you were fans of vintage cartoons.

Bixaweet · 01/01/2025 05:31

Fire Emblem geeks.

wandawaves · 01/01/2025 05:45

I would think you were mistaken, and told me the names of the cats instead of the kids.

ILoveAnnaQuay · 01/01/2025 05:48

I actually know a couple whose children are called Felix and Caspar!

They are quite well off, the boys go to private school. Mum drives a huge 4x4. Very right wing, Dad voted for Brexit. Not sure about Mum.

This! Separately they would be fine but together definitely sound like cats.

Muthaofcats · 01/01/2025 06:59

Caspar means dandruff in Spanish

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2025 07:10

Cats as well

Same as Bella I imm think of a cat
