Hi all,
What is your opinion on the baby name Jemima Beatrice. Beatrice is a family name so will be the middle name. Thank you😊

Admittedly I think of Jemima Puddleduck by Beatrix Potter. But it's a nice thought iykwim.

Needanewname42 · 16/12/2024 06:26

Good choice as long as you don't mind Jemima eventually being shortened to Jem or Mima.

SardinesOnGingerbread · 16/12/2024 06:26

I absolutely love both your choices. Really beautiful names.

clarepetal · 16/12/2024 06:50

Love them both

Florol · 16/12/2024 06:52

I know a jemima and it's shortened to MiMi

toastofthetown · 16/12/2024 06:57

I’m not a huge fan of Jemima; I just think the sound is unpleasant. If you travel to the USA a lot, Jemima is a racially charged name there - but obviously won’t have any impact if not.

CrocsNotDocs · 16/12/2024 07:00

Every Australian she meets will make Play School jokes. Nothing awful but Jemima is always a rag doll to me.

SallyWD · 16/12/2024 07:30

I like it but it sounds very posh to me. I'd imagine a Jemima to go to private school and have a pony.

Starryknightcloud · 16/12/2024 07:31

Both lovely names, but together does sound like you're a massive Beatrix Potter fan

PurpleChrayn · 16/12/2024 07:44

Beatrice is lovely.

Jemima is a horrible, whingey name.

Pandasnacks · 16/12/2024 07:47

Great name for a duck. Not so much for a person

Especiallyforme · 16/12/2024 07:48

I don’t personally like it at all.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 16/12/2024 07:51

I work with a Jemima, we all call her Jem.

mamaduckbone · 16/12/2024 07:51

I like it, and the only Jemima I've known IRL was a lovely little girl who I taught so I have positive connotations.

TrippTover · 16/12/2024 07:58

Love Jemima, and I think Jemima Puddleduck has a really nice name 🤷‍♀️

TrippTover · 16/12/2024 08:00

Pandasnacks · 16/12/2024 07:47

Do you realise that Beatrix Potter animals tend to have human names, not vice versa? 😂 see Peter Rabbit and Jeremy Fisher for a start. Who knows what Mrs Tiggywinkle’s first name is, probably Dorothy or something.

pooballs · 16/12/2024 08:07

Jemima is awful sorry

Love Beatrice as a middle name though

Happyinarcon · 16/12/2024 08:21

Love the name, it was on my shortlist

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 16/12/2024 08:37

Lovely

Pandasnacks · 16/12/2024 08:59

@TrippTover yeah that's not something that really needs explaining but thanks 😂 it's a very famous puddle duck and that's what I associate it with, also known several ducks called Jemima because it's a popular name for ducks. For people I don't like it. Make sense?

tulipsunday · 16/12/2024 09:11

I prefer Beatrice as a name so personally would have it the other way round.

user2848502016 · 16/12/2024 10:04

I like it

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/12/2024 12:09

I don’t know anyone called Jemima, so it does have the duck association to me - but that would soon change if I met a little girl called Jemima. It’s a good name with nice nn options. It’s a shame about the US racial connotations though.

Firsttimebabymummy · 16/12/2024 12:30

I like both. Not a name I would choose myself, though but nothing wrong with them

HorribleHisTories15 · 16/12/2024 12:36

Beautiful!
