Hello

I am addressing here both English and Italian speakers, what do you think honestly of the names below:

Orlando

Cosimo

Ludovico

Dario

Many thanks!

Anna8888 · 18/04/2008 11:45

I'm afraid I don't like any of them much.

Gabriele?

Love Orlando but it's very posh in English and makes me think of Orlando the Marmalade Cat. Cosmimo I like, but I think would be confused with Cosima. Ludovico is nice, not so keen on Dario

VictorianSqualor · 18/04/2008 11:47

Alessandro.

Marco

Pucci · 18/04/2008 11:48

It's nice, but it has already taken by one of our relative
thank you anyway!

Not an Italian speaker but am not hugey keen on the selection.
It's all personal taste though so if you like them, go with your instinct.
I do like Paulo very much.

cyteen · 18/04/2008 11:50

Ludovico is ace, plus it shortens to Ludo which is even better.

MrsMattie · 18/04/2008 11:51

Massimo
Angelo
Gianluca / Luca
Gianfranco / Franco

I like Orlando and Cosimo.

schneebly · 18/04/2008 11:52

love Massimo

NotQuiteCockney · 18/04/2008 11:53

I like Nicolas and Emmanuel.

Orlando and Cosimo are good.

minster · 18/04/2008 11:53

Cosimo I love, love, love - couldn't get dh to agree though

Orlando is fine, I new one irl before Orlando Bloom but that is probably an assoication that most people will make.

Ludovico & Dario - don't really like these.

Alessandro is good though.

Do you like the name Ariel?

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 18/04/2008 12:10

Pucci - no, don't like Ariel at all. Are you Jewish?

FAWKEOFF · 18/04/2008 12:12

i luuurve salvator and leon

Pinkchampagne · 18/04/2008 12:12

Not keen on any of them tbh. I like Luca though.

Pucci · 18/04/2008 12:19

@ Anna8888, no I am not but my family has got many Jewish connections - I just like the name...

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 18/04/2008 12:21

Our children don't have Jewish first names, and nor does my partner (he is 100% Jewish), but lots of his friends' children do and it marks them out. I would be really wary of giving a very Jewish name to a none Jewish child.

Pucci · 18/04/2008 12:22

@Anna8888: you made a very good point, didn't think about it - many thanks indeed!

I am super aware of it.

I will never take my partner's surname (super Jewish) because Anna + super-Jewish surname makes me sound like an old mitteleuropean . Not my self-image at all...

MrsWeasley · 18/04/2008 12:25

I like Orlando, Alessandro and Luca

JustineMumsnet · 18/04/2008 12:26

Enzo?
