David, Georgio, Benedict

francagoestohollywood · 18/04/2008 12:27

Ludovico I don't like because it is so openly upper middle class (in Italy)

Cosimo I like (still upper middle class though)

Dario I love, because it is so simple and yet smart.

Orlando, it is more a surname!

I also love Mario, Gabriel, Nicola and Guido

francagoestohollywood · 18/04/2008 12:28

gabriele obviously. I also like Paolo

@ Ciao Trolleydolly71!
That's great! Glad you like Orlando, we like it because it works well in both languages. BTW have you got a name in mind?
In bocca al lupo anche a te carissima

sophiebbb · 18/04/2008 12:59

I have Italian DH and a little boy called Mattia.

Like Cosimo but also love Luca - unfortunately my DH is called that so we couldn't use it. We are expecting another (turns out it is a girl) but if it were a boy I was thinking Raffaele (although my DH said it didn't sound so good for an Italian...)

Tallulah Noemi

Sounds like a "Hello" magazine name!!! I am a fan of Tori Amos and have loved Tallulah since I heard her singing a song about her...! Noemi is the name of DH's aunt.

sophiebbb · 18/04/2008 13:12

PS Hatrick - everyone thinks Mattia is a girl so you may get the same with Nicola!!! Doesn't help he has cute little curls!! Although Nico is a good shortened version

I'm glad you like it. Most people look at me in a funny way when I say she will be Tallulah. But I ignore it! If my sister had a little girl she would have called her Tabitha which I hated at first but have to say it has grown on me now. Funny how names do that!

What is on your shortlist for boy and girl?

I go with Luca

Mikafan · 18/04/2008 13:21

I like Stefano

francagoestohollywood · 18/04/2008 13:24

oh noemi is sweet! Nico is beautiful too. Our ds is Andrea, I expected lots of when we were living in the UK, but it was fine, no problems at school whatsoever etc.

Pucci · 18/04/2008 13:45

@sohpiebbb@: I love Tallulah and I also like Willow for a girl - they remind me of the Pre-raphaelites paintings somehow...very exotic names to us Italians.

@Sophiebbb: ref.'Raffaele'' I agree with your DH - what about ''Raffaello'' like the great painter?

I think in the end we decided on Rafael Oliver - the Spanish version - (shortened to Rafi) but then found out she was a girl..... My brother in law (from Liverpool) was disappointed as he wanted a "Rafa" in the family!!!
