I don't like the name Dustin, I just think of dustbin.

Aaron. When my cousin named their child this I cringed.

They didn't get beyond column one of the first page of the book of baby names.

Blushingm · 30/08/2024 18:50

Anything that ends in -ayden or -aiden think jaiden, kayden

Don't like Tyler or Courtney either

Middle name of May or Lee

I love the name Sarah, I think it is a great name - it is just so did eleventy million parents in the 1970s and 1980s.

I am not keen on Alice, for some reason, as I see it as insipid, although I recently met an Alice who was very nice and not at all insipid so I may be changing my mind.

Winifred, Gertrude, Wilhelmina - but you don't get many of those these days.
Stewart, perhaps because it has "wart" in it.

I have a Sarah. She was born late 90s and there was only one other Sarah in each of the three schools she attended. It always amused me that the parents who thought they were giving their children more interesting names, found that many others thought of the same and so there was a multitude of Calebs and Kyles. Perfectly fine names of course, but I that's how name popularity goes.

I’ll look through to see if anyone’s mentioned but my name is a sort of amalgamation of two really ugly names although it is an unusual name in its own right. Rowena and Morwenna. Rowena is the whiniest name and Morwenna sounds like she belongs on the Addams family.

I also don’t like ramona although it’s loved on here: it sounds like moan. Also not keen on Genevieve although again adored on MN.

My mum also wanted to call me Elspeth which just sounds spitty and lispy!

gano · 30/08/2024 18:55

Only name I can think of is Gemma.

I've never met a Gemma that I've warmed to. Also, two bullies in my year at secondary school were both called Gemma, and one of them beat me up.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 30/08/2024 18:58

I don't like

Americanised names eg Jayden, Harper
Hyphens
Overly posh and frilly names e.g Camilla, Francesca
Silly 'unique' spellings

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 30/08/2024 18:59

lowflow · 30/08/2024 17:34

Jaqueline

It sticks in your throat when you say it. It

I always think of Reverend Lovejoy saying it as jack-que-line.

Lampzade · 30/08/2024 19:00

Jack- Every single Jack I have met was a pain in the arse

Emma it's just a boring safe name.
Violet I absolutely detest this name.

If my son had been a girl, i would have called her Emma.
I think it's a lovely name.

We're all different!

MissMoan · 30/08/2024 19:01

Names that sound differently from how they are spelled, such as Hermione or
Nimah.

And for some reason, Roger, Jermaine, Beryl, and Aaron

My closest friendship group is Sarah, Jane,Claire, Louise and Elizabeth. Can you guess we were born in the 70s?! Grin

I'm a bit older than you, so all the Alisons and Sharons. Mainly married to Kevins and Grahams 😂

RoyKentwhistle · 30/08/2024 16:45

Logan I absolutely hate it with a passion

Me too but I don't really know why. I know a lovely one so I think it's just the sound of the name.

housethatbuiltme · 30/08/2024 19:04

It is weird to think in a few generation people my age will be trying to hide horror as a sea of our offspring named Emily Rose & Oliver Jack announce our beloved grandkids or great-grandkids as Wayne Alan, Kevin Trevor and Tracy Debra lol.

Just as this generations grandparents are sat their going 'really??? Edith, Alfred & Dorothy? thats so 'old''.

Wonder what the future version of 'trendy' modern names will be? if the trend for words (like Sage Rain or Willow Winter) carry on it will be 'Hi granny, meet your new grand daughter baby Garlic Wind' as we sit there and force a smile, then maybe baby Shannon Louise won't seem so bad.

It will happen as time moves on around us all.

scootlandyard · 30/08/2024 19:10

Garlic Wind 🤣

dontforgetme · 30/08/2024 19:12

@ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews my son would have been Emma too if he'd been a girl. I absolutely love it!

Coffeeandcrocs · 30/08/2024 19:14

Sunnnybunny72 · 30/08/2024 19:17

Anything ending in ie.
And Noah.

ThereIsATInWater · 30/08/2024 19:18

Felicity and Abigail....hate them.
Tyler.

Nina9870 · 30/08/2024 19:19

I have absolutely no idea why, but the name Margot makes me think of a cigarette. So yeh, I dislike it!

BreatheAndFocus · 30/08/2024 19:21

I forgot Tyler! Yes, awful - as is Tyla. I also don’t like Taylor or any occupations as first names.

Also - Woody! Why?? It’s not a compliment and it’s such a horrible boy’s name IMO.
