Constance for the girl, and either Reuben or Solomon for the boy. Lovely.

Nemoandthefishes · 12/04/2008 07:55

G Jemima
B Henry

popsycal · 12/04/2008 07:57

G Ellen
B if I had to choose one, I would choose Reuben

MrsJohnCusack · 12/04/2008 08:17

G Nell (not Ellen though), Constance, Maude
B Henry (I have one) and quite like Ivor too

belgo · 12/04/2008 08:19

Olive
Maude

are ok but not keen on any of them.

Boys:

Henry
is very nice.

MrsMattie · 12/04/2008 08:25

Not keen on any of your girl's names to be honest. Ellen at a push.

Reuben and Solomon nice.

ruty · 12/04/2008 08:31

Like Constance a lot. Reuben nice too. Jemima quite sweet [i had a cat called that so it kind of rules it out for me!]

LynetteScavo · 12/04/2008 08:35

Jemima & Ivor are my favourites.

Not keen on Olive.

conniedescending · 12/04/2008 08:48

I love Constance and Jemima..not keen on Ellen or Maude. Hate Jennifer. Olive can't decide if I like or not!

Your boys names are all 'ok'. Solomon or Henry are the nicer than the others. Have you considered Sebastian?

Olive - prefer Olivia
Constance (Connie) - not so much
Maude - ok, prefer Martha
Ellen (Nell) - I like this
Jennifer (Jen) - no
Jemima - ok, also Gemma of Jenna?

Boys:
Reuben - love
Ivor - no
Solomon - prefer Saul - has a lovely meaning
Albert - ok with nn bertie?
Henry - bland

Ineedsomesleep · 12/04/2008 09:08

How are you supposed to phrase it, oh yes, Reuben is very, very "popular" around here.

Love Constance & Jemima. I wanted Jemima for DD but DH thought it was too posh for us.

Love Henry and Ivor too. Ivor reminds me of Ivor the Engine but I'm sure thats just me showing my great age

Twinkie1 · 12/04/2008 09:11

Maude and Reuben

I liked Reuben for DS but DH said too Jewish (WTF!!)

Think Connie is a very harsh name for a little girl and remember a girl at school called Nell - everyone called her Nellie the Elephant because she was fat so have always shyed away from that just in case.

Went to all girls school so people were particulary cruel though!

cyteen · 12/04/2008 11:45

Olive or Maude at a push. Not feeling any of your boy's names - sorry!

SilentTerror · 12/04/2008 12:07

I/ve got a Jemima and she is sweet!
We always call her Jemima but she gets Mima from younger sister,Jim/Jimmy at school sometimes. She really suits it,looks old fashioned ifyswim?
Unusual too but not unheard of.Always receive comments about it,complemaentary too!

jolo · 12/04/2008 17:43

I like Ellen, Jemima and Maude from your girls list. As someone said i think Jennifer is a bit dated. Don't dislike any of the boys names think I would choose Soloman or Henry.

berolina · 12/04/2008 17:45

Girls: Like Maude, Ellen and Jemima; Ellen is my favourite of the three. I like Constance but do not like Connie.

Boys: Like Reuben and Henry, about equally. Albert is a nice name but somehow I don't feel it really fits a baby/child. Solomon is a little pretentious, sorry. Don't like Ivor, and it might be setting him up for lots of jokes.

georgiemama · 12/04/2008 21:04

Constance or Jennifer

I actually like your boy names more than the girl ones - Henry I love, is DS's middle name. Not keen on Ivor but I like the rest. If you are struggling for boy names what about (I am sensing you like old fashioned):

Edward
Ted
Ned
Oliver
Orlando
George
Robert
Rufus
Charles
Archie
William

itisme · 12/04/2008 21:36

don't like olive (love olivia), maude or albert

love the others though

Ineedsomesleep · 13/04/2008 08:51

Oh, I love Albert too. Its FIL name and he is really sweet. My Dad is Arthur and he's lovely too.

Albert would be Bertie for short? Bertie is becoming more and more popular at the moment, still like it though.

PerkinWarbeck · 13/04/2008 08:52

Constance and Albert are particularly lovely

saggers · 13/04/2008 09:03

Nell
Connie
Solomon
Reuben

melpomene · 13/04/2008 09:15

Like Jennifer
Dislike Maude - just don't like the sound of the word.

Like Henry
Don't like Ivor - sounds like a steam engine or an old man

Stars22 · 13/04/2008 13:15

Ellen and Rueben or Henry

1066andallthat · 13/04/2008 14:02

Girls:
Olive - wonderful friend's name
Constance (Connie) - taught a lovely girl with this name
Maude - no opinion
Ellen (Nell)- love it - from the Waltons'
Jennifer (Jen) - can't stand it - horrid ex-sister-in-law
Jemima - Jemima-duck, so depends if you like B. Potter

Boys:
Reuben - teach a gorgeous boy with this name
Ivor - Ivor-the-Engine, but I like Thomas the tank series
Solomon - fabulous name
Albert - ex-boyfriend, bit dysfunctional
Henry - DS's middle name and would have had it as his first one, given the choice

Looking at this, liking names depends on what they mean to you. Actually, I like all your names - .
