I like Ellen and Reuben. Actually these are two of the names we are thinking of at the moment. Tiny is due to appear in September.
Don't worry to much about what others think.

Like

Connie, Jemima, Ellen.

The rest, no....Maude...What.

Like, Ruben, soloman, henry.

Ivor the engine .....No

Albert is my Grandads name and he is a evil git.

Girls: I like Constance (on my list but not DH's - luckily as there were two at DD's nursery (bt it's fairly unusual still).
Also Maude.

Boys: like Henry and Albert esp Albert (shortening didn't work with our surname or would've been on my list).

maisiemog · 14/04/2008 00:16

I like Jemima, because we used to have a hamster called Jemima, although that may not be a selling point. We used to call her mimi and jemmy for short.
Also like Solomon, followed by Reuben. Sol seems to be popular on other names threads, although I can't quite get my head round a little boy called Sol - seems a bit grown-up. Would have to be Solomon or Solly?

carrieHD9 · 14/04/2008 00:23

I think they're all lovely, especially like Jemima and Connie. Henry's nice but there's lots of Henry's around so I guess it depends how unusual you want your name to be?

Out of interest, why do people think Ivor is bad name because of Ivor the Engine? Surely no different from boys called Thomas getting 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and isn't Thomas one of the most popular boys names of the last few years? Or am I missing a different meaning about it?

LookattheLottie · 14/04/2008 01:34

Girl: Jennifer, but prefer Jenny. Also like Nell, but not Ellen.

Boy: I love Henry

mom2latinoboys · 14/04/2008 01:53

Jennifer

Solomon

mezzer · 14/04/2008 03:28

Not sure if someone has already said this but, I wouldn't recommend Jemima if you are thinking about moving to the US. It's a type of fake maple syrup.

kitsmummy · 15/04/2008 19:44

Ummm, Jemima's the only one i like

Amy71 · 15/04/2008 23:16

Jemima and Henry for me.

Ellbell · 15/04/2008 23:18

Good list! My favourites are Ellen (which is what my dd2 is called) and Reuben (which is what she'd have been if she was a boy). You have impeccable taste .

Aero · 15/04/2008 23:25

Jennifer and Constance

Reuben and Solomon (I know two brothers called R and S - lovely names).
