Hi everyone,

I want to call my daughter Olivia Mae and i love the shortened version 'Livvie'. My mum likes Olivia but says Livvie is chav!!

I know it doesnt matter what she thinks and i dont suppose it really makes a difference but i just wanted different peoples opinions from all over - as i dont know any Livvies / Olivias!!!

It is lovely but very popular

janeite · 04/04/2008 21:18

I know only one Livvi and she is totally not a chav. I think your chosen name sounds lovely.

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 04/04/2008 21:19

Olivia is very very popular, but a lovely name, and Livvy is not at all chavvy.

kerala · 04/04/2008 21:22

It was our first choice throughout the pregnancy. Til we realised it was everyone else's first choice too and switched 2 weeks before the birth to something abit rarer which we LOVE.

Have never regretted it. There were 3 in my baby massage class. But dont think it is chavvy at all. If the popularity doesnt bother you (it really did bother me) go for it!

AAAAaarrrrrgggghhhhh i loved it because i thought it was original!!! Noooooooooo - what a nightmare! x

Well, my little Livvy (officially Olivia) is 3 weeks old, completely gorgeous (may be slightly biased) and no sign of being a chav so far. I did worry that Olivia is very popular but once we had it on our list I didn't like anything as much....

CrackerOfNuts · 04/04/2008 21:24

Dd2's best friend is Olivia, or Livvie and she is one of the sweetest little girls I know, not chavvy at all.

collision · 04/04/2008 21:26

what about Livia?

It is Italian, more unusual and so pretty.

Was the most popular name of 2007 and I have two in my ante-natal class (My DD is 2.5 weeks!). Very pretty though!

I think Olivia is a beatiful name ..and i only know a couple so not overly popular in my neck of the woods

Livvie is sooo cute ...although i do love Ollie too

Kezza7779 · 04/04/2008 21:34

me too - Ollie is well sweet, my mum said shed call her Ollie for short!xx

Remotew · 04/04/2008 21:36

No, not chavvy and you may not want to shorten Olivia but Livvy is nice if you do.

collision · 05/04/2008 11:06

Does Beans have a daughter called Olivia??

Slouchy · 05/04/2008 11:11

Our niece is Olivia. It is NEVER to be shortened a/c to sil and bil. (It will be of course, once she is at school but at the moment it gets the full monty).

I think it is a pretty name. However, it is popular (top5 last year I think)

Prefer Liv to Ollie, i think.

ninja · 05/04/2008 11:11

I love Olivia too - it would have been considered a 'posh' name until a couple of years ago. DD's best friend is an Ollie but Livvy is sweet too.

I think it's anme that uits a child or adult equally well, a great choice

UniversallyChallenged · 05/04/2008 11:15

Beautiful name - but very common (in the popular way, not the chav way)

bubblagirl · 05/04/2008 11:18

i think everything is classed as chav too much these days livvie was used in oldern days amongst the posh as shortened names to olivia and was high classed

there really isnt anything chavvy apart from wearing designer gear caked in gold chuffing on cigs with a very high ponytail

Meandmyjoe · 05/04/2008 11:59

I love it. tis very popular now days but that's not a bad thing at all! I always hated having a name which was really unpopular when I was little- now it's one of the most popular names for little girls There will always be people who don't like the names you pick. My sister really dislike Joseph when I told her that's what we were calling ds. Now he looks so much like a Joseph if you know what I mean! And she likes the name now. It's your choice and I don't think it's chavvy at all!

windygalestoday · 05/04/2008 12:12

i really like it ....will it go go nicely with your surname? what about a middle name?
