Hi everyone,

I want to call my daughter Olivia Mae and i love the shortened version 'Livvie'. My mum likes Olivia but says Livvie is chav!!

I know it doesnt matter what she thinks and i dont suppose it really makes a difference but i just wanted different peoples opinions from all over - as i dont know any Livvies / Olivias!!!

Nice name but be prepared she will likely be Olivia J or whatever your surname begins with as the name is so popular now.

I think of Olivia as being fairly Sloan really, but I'm obviously out of date! Livvie is a sweet baby name.

Hi Kezza
Thats a wonderfull name my dd1 (6) is Olivia-Mae too! I dont think its common at all!

belgo · 01/05/2008 17:21

Livvie isn't chav!

Olivia is fine, I like Livvie.

vicsta · 01/05/2008 17:27

Always thought of Livvie as being a bit posh if anything - certainly not chav.

TheMaskedPoster · 01/05/2008 17:43

Beautiful name - but then again, I am slightly biased!!

tryingtocookacurry · 01/05/2008 18:07

Beautiful name, but I am biased too.

Hulababy · 01/05/2008 19:15

Olivia Mae is a beautiful name.

My friend's DD has her's shorted to Liv, Livvie or Libby at times. They are def not "chav!"

If you want to call her Livvie, why not just go straight for it? Or I know of one Libby, that is a contraction from Elizabeth, if you think Olivia is too popular. I think Olivia is a beautiful name but if it is going to be like mine - there were five of us in one Maths' set - maybe, you need a re-think. Saying that, it never bothered me sharing my name with half the group (minor exaggeration - )!

Kezza7779 · 01/05/2008 21:20

LOL - wow what a coincidence oliviaelanasmum spelt the same too - ! good choice!x

1066 dh wont go for the shortened version he wants her to have a 'propper' name on her birth cert then shorten it day to day! he thinks shes gonna be lawyer or summit so wants her to have an official name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

My dd1 is an Olivia and now tells people off if the call her Livvie (mostly Granny). It's a beautiful name which is why it is popular. Having said that she is the only one in her year of 90

smartiejake · 01/05/2008 21:47

Lovely name and not at all chavvy.

Just don't buy her a burberry bib/ baby grow and she will be totally unchavlike. ( And TOTALLY don't get her ears pierced! (or her belly button))

Kezza7779 · 01/05/2008 21:52

LOL i wont!!!! burberry Yuk!x

good name, not chavvy.

Quote Liv Ullmann at him - . No, it is nice to have more options and having a "proper" name with lovely contractions gives your DD that.
