Thoughts on the name Sadie?

Hi,
What are people's thoughts on the name Sadie?

we encountered a Sadie she must be 14 now, a disturbed child with awful parents totally offputting - older people would quote Miss Sadie Thompson, (Rita Hayworth in the film of the same name) a lady of dubious morals, the association lingers

also! knew an older Sadie who at her funeral was Sarah?! also Sally is Sarah,
it is the same Hebrew name meaning Princess

Sadies for me are hardbitten sixtysomething chainsmokers who always have used tissues poking out of their cardigan sleeves.

I really like the name Sadie but personally wouldn’t use it because it starts with ‘sad’. Same reason I wouldn’t use Madeleine, because it starts with ‘mad’. I’d never noticed it ends in ‘die’ before so I guess that’s another reason I wouldn’t use Sadie or Maddie!

I used to know a Sadie and thought it was a nice name (30 years ago), now I just think it sounds like a dogs name

Love it! One of my favourites. Reminds me of that scene in pretty woman (I think that was it?) about Sadie the name for a married lady

I don’t hate it but it sounds a bit American to me. I know one, aged around 10, who is lovely but it’s just not my cup of tea.

I just think of Sadie the bra lady, up north we have a local celebrity with a big bra shop.

I know a Saydi..like the name spelt this way.

I don’t love nicknames as given names, I’d prefer the full version.

To me it does sound like sadist in my accent. Not too bothered by sad or die. More bothered about there being absolutely no options for shortening or changing it at all, and how popular it is currently.

I think it's really nice actually. Haven't heard it much lately in small kids so it would be sufficiently unique. It's kind of got a boho, slightly 70s hippy vibes to it. You could imagine the person becoming something creative.
