Amber!

WittiestUsernameEver · 07/05/2024 16:28

Amelia.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/05/2024 16:29

Both lovely names but I would go for Amber because of the abundance of Amelias.

bloodyplumbing · 07/05/2024 16:29

Both!

Both lovely!

Sorry I'm not helping.

Maybe Amber has the edge?

BronteH · 07/05/2024 16:29

Amber

songaboutjam · 07/05/2024 16:53

I personally prefer Amelia but I do like Amber (I used to have a friend called Amber)

It really depends on what "feel" you're after. Something feminine and classic (a "princess" name), or something more modern and assertive? Amelia is more the former and Amber is more the latter.

MaryMack · 07/05/2024 16:56

Amber would be my preference although both names are very pretty.

buckleten · 07/05/2024 17:11

Amber, or how about Amelie?

goldenretrievermum5 · 07/05/2024 17:12

I adore Amber - strong, cool and classy

Amelia is awful. So common and it means absence of limbs in medical terms. No idea how it got so popular considering that!

Agree with PP that Amelie is lovely though, very pretty and elegant.

VelvetTurtle · 07/05/2024 17:14

Amber otherwise she will be Amelia (surname initial) at school. Wouldn't like that for my kids there's 3 in my sons class Amelia S Amelia M and Amelia L

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/05/2024 17:15

Amelia.

Amber is a chavvy name.

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/05/2024 17:30

Ooh a difficult one - I really like both! I agree with the pp who said it depends what vibe you’re after. I personally love the vintage vibe of Amelia and although its longer than I usually like, it has lots of very useable shorter options (Amie, Milly, Mia etc)
But Amber is a bit edgier sounding and I love that it doesn’t tend to be shortened.
I’d probably pick Amelia (probably…!)

NetMum2 · 07/05/2024 17:33

I like both!

Amber, or how about Amelie?

Amalia but would go with Amber as classrooms are full of Amelias.

KnitnNatterAuntie · 07/05/2024 17:58

Amelia or Amelie

Sorry, not keen on Amber

GoldHag · 07/05/2024 17:59

Amber. Amelia is so over used.

I dont know an Amber.

RuthW · 07/05/2024 18:03

Amber

Jeannie88 · 07/05/2024 18:08

Amber for me. Xx

StringTheory1 · 07/05/2024 18:10

Amelia / Amelie is horribly overused
Amber is a bit tacky in my mind.

Sorry.

salamithumbs · 07/05/2024 18:12

Amber! Or Amelie, as a pp suggested. Not a fan of Amelia!

pbdr · 07/05/2024 18:29

Definitely Amber, much nicer

BronteH · 07/05/2024 18:40

There are so many Amelia’s, Emilia’s, Emily’s. So many. Amelie at a push. But Amber is nicer if only because it’s not as common/ popular.

Roselilly36 · 07/05/2024 18:43

I like both names, Amelia is very common, Amber more usual, also unisex, I know a male Amber.

marshmallowfinder · 07/05/2024 18:49

Amelia is a medical condition meaning 'absence of limbs'. It also sounds dreadful with that 'mealy' noise in it! Uh mealy uh.

Amber is a beautiful name.
