I know one in his 50s. Not keen sorry.

AlpineMuesli · 19/04/2024 11:08

Went to school with two of them. One was a Warryn, if that helps.
You'll get loads of 'oh rabbit warren' comments but with Ren as a nn option it seems fine to me.

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/04/2024 11:23

I knew one who would be in his 40’s now. He wasn’t very nice so I’ve got bad associations! But that’s just a personal thing!

shannnxo · 19/04/2024 11:48

There's better boy names out there!

KirstenBlest · 19/04/2024 12:28

Seems more of a surname than a first name. I know a nice one but he's in his 70s.

HashB · 19/04/2024 12:35

Thanks everyone.
It is actually my mums maiden name. I have my dads surname, but he has no wider family, I have only ever known my mums side so there is that connection there.
As a first name, it’s like most other boys names I hear. Don’t hate it, don’t love it…
this is so hard!

You could use it as a first or middle name. It didn't do Warren Beatty any harm.

samestyle · 19/04/2024 13:10

Makes me think of Warren G mid 90s rapper, not a bad thing, I still sing along in car when I hear it. I don't think the name has been popular enough to sound that dated, use it if you like it. I think it's quite nice to reference your family name.

checkedshirts · 19/04/2024 13:29

It's the old joke; What do you call a man with 15 rabbits up his bum? Or the Warren at school was nicknamed Peace

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 19/04/2024 13:38

Not for me. It's not aged well imo.

ginasevern · 19/04/2024 13:54

It's not a dreadful name by any means but he might get called bunny at school. The only Warren I've ever heard of is Warren Beatty but I'm showing my age and nobody else here will know who I'm talking about.

pambeesleyhalpert · 19/04/2024 13:56

I know one in his 40s o I used to not like it but I don't mind it now

Oldandcobwebby · 19/04/2024 14:21

The only two Warrens I have known have been really quiet, studious types, and all-round nice guys. I like it!

Mercurial123 · 19/04/2024 14:27

It's awful

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 19/04/2024 14:33

I knew people at school called Warren. I'm in my 50s. To me it's a name that goes with all the Darrens, Jasons, Deans, Grants, Garys and Waynes. The Sharons, Karens, Jackies, Elaines and Paulines.

I know these will come around again eventually, but please God, not yet.

DrJoanAllenby · 19/04/2024 14:40

It's not horrible but it's what I would call an awkward name.

ladymalfoy45 · 19/04/2024 14:48

Went to school with a Warren. One of the funniest lads in my year. I remember one afternoon in TVEI we were doing First Aid and the instructor asked him what's the first thing you do if you see an accident. Warren said ,quick as a flash , 'Assess the situation ' . He said it so seriously and with such a deadpan look that I couldn't help laughing.
No help I know but I've nothing but affection for the name.
Wozzer!

35andThriving · 19/04/2024 15:07

I like it. I especially like that there is a family connection to the name, in your case.

peaceinourtime · 19/04/2024 15:40

Warren is a good name, it’s my cousins name and he is the only Warren I know.

I know Warren Beatty! I also think Buffett.

So true. And the Steves and Pauls and Susans and Janes. Very much of the 70s!

ILoveYouMore2022 · 19/04/2024 18:46

Warren Jeffs, a child rapist and leader of an FLDS cult in the USA, is probably the most famous Warren I’ve heard of.
It would be a big no for me.

Sweeties1989 · 19/04/2024 19:38

Yes i like warren it suits all ages.

Mandarinaduck · 19/04/2024 19:41

It’s a bit dated but makes a change and with your family connection could be meaningful.
