Hi All,

Really struggling with baby boy names. What do you think of Warren?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ShinyEspeon · 19/04/2024 20:09

I think it SHOULD be a nice name...but I have known two, and neither of them were great. One who would be in his early forties now, and a child of about 10.

W0rkerBee · 19/04/2024 20:17

Awful

KirstenBlest · 19/04/2024 20:29

I know Warren Beatty! I also think Buffett.
Warren Mitchell and Warren Clarke

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 19/04/2024 22:34

I like it

MillyMollyMandy01 · 20/04/2024 01:40

Love it, and there won’t be loads in his Year at school, unlike all the Harry’s & Jacks & Oliver’s. It’s a bit more original.

Cuckoochanel80 · 20/04/2024 01:45

Wouldn't be particularly keen.

RogueFemale · 20/04/2024 02:45

Another no vote to the name Warren. Just no.

DramaAlpaca · 20/04/2024 03:02

Oh dear no. I once had a manager called Warren. A more stupid, ignorant, unpleasant and totally incompetent man it'd be hard to find <shudder> When his boss (the big boss) quietly tipped me off that he'd resigned, it was a great day for both of us.

I always found it an unpleasant name, but the association with my awful manager just finishes it off for me.

OP, if you like it, have it as a middle name where it's mainly out of sight, out of mind.

NightPuffins · 20/04/2024 03:11

It's a known name yet I don't actually know any, so that makes me like it. And nice with your family connection too.

user1492757084 · 20/04/2024 04:36

Warren is fine to have a comeback. It was not a really common name, and it's nice to have the family connection.
Don't choose a C name as second name.

Warren James
Warren Maximilian
Warren Geoffrey
Warren Thomas
Warren Alexander
Warren Mark
Warren Hugh

DuploTrain · 20/04/2024 04:55

I’m not sure it’s ready for a revival. You may be ahead of the curve by about 20 years. Would be fine for a middle name because of the family connection though.

Mrstwiddle · 20/04/2024 04:59

I was thinking of having this for my son, I am so so grateful to my mum for talking me out of it, I blame the hormones, it's just such an ugly name.

calishire · 20/04/2024 05:35

I like it and also like the family connection. Never heard of the bunny thing whatever that is. Go for it.

Hobbesmanc · 20/04/2024 06:16

There was a trend in the sixties and early seventies for taking surnames as first names for boys. Like Russel, Craig, Dean, Grant. Warren falls into that group. Seems a little dated.

ringoffiire · 20/04/2024 06:20

I've got some friends who called their son Warren, he's a toddler now. It suits him. When they first announced it I was a bit surprised as I hadn't heard it in years and didn't think it was all that nice, but it's grown on me. And he's adorable, of course :)

AppleCrumbleTea · 20/04/2024 06:28

Prefer Warwick or Rowan

OnHerSolidFoundations · 20/04/2024 07:04

samestyle · 19/04/2024 13:10

Makes me think of Warren G mid 90s rapper, not a bad thing, I still sing along in car when I hear it. I don't think the name has been popular enough to sound that dated, use it if you like it. I think it's quite nice to reference your family name.

Me too
Or Warren St tube
Or rabbit warren

I don't like it sorry op

OnHerSolidFoundations · 20/04/2024 07:06

Also what if your child has a speech impediment like Jonathan Woss...
"Wowon" 😬

Aria20 · 20/04/2024 07:10

It makes me think of Warren in Hollyoaks!
It's not terrible and it's certainly not common.

HashB · 20/04/2024 09:50

Thanks all - seems fairly divisive!

Duckies · 20/04/2024 14:40

I like it, reminds me of musician/composer Warren Ellis.

(And Beatty.)

BreatheAndFocus · 20/04/2024 14:49

I don’t like it- sorry. It sounds dated and all I can think of is the joke whose answer is “Warren”. Use it as a middle name if you really want to use it.

cheapskatemum · 20/04/2024 15:29

Pretty sure there was a Warren serving time in Slade prison in Porridge. They all called him Bunny.

resm · 20/04/2024 15:43

I think it’s fine! It would also be lovely as a middle name to honour your mum’s side if you’re unsure about it. But I’d love if there was a wee Warren in my son’s class - very refreshing to hear.

Axx · 20/04/2024 17:50

Not for me.
