Yes

I know sooo many Johns that I find it dull and overused.

Hope your surname isn't a common one like Smith Grin

Iloveeverycat · 16/06/2024 15:20

Firsttimebabymummy · 25/06/2024 10:36

Nice solid name.

butteriesplease · 25/06/2024 10:38

I have a brother called John, I like it!

GuessThatGranny · 25/06/2024 22:48

A classic, and I think overdue a comeback.

In my mind it is if a similar vintage to Paul, Andrew, Simon and Peter, all of which I think will come storming back to popularity over the next ten years.

Redberies · 26/06/2024 07:28

Give us t another 15-20 years.

The current Johns and Pauls are only aged 60 ish.

I know loads of Johns in their 30s-40s. Great name!

Yep, John has been a top 100 name since we started keeping name records many hundreds of years ago. It only fell out of the top 100 in the 2010’s so there are bound to still be plenty of John’s only in their twenties about. It’s hardly a dated “old man” name - just a lot less commonly heard on young kids than it used to be! I love it’s simplicity, plenty of nn’s (Johnny, Jack etc) and that’s there are loads of great historical namesakes.

redheadnamedabigale · 13/07/2024 03:31

Boooo-ring.

MerryMarys · 13/07/2024 08:49

John is soo boring

Hope your surname isn't Smith or Lewis

WonkyElection · 13/07/2024 09:58

Handsome. Nice change from all the frilly twee boy names.

TEDPIEridiculousness2024 · 13/07/2024 10:15

Love it - a very strong not common boys name. Classic and under rated.

Its in the same camp as Edward for me.

Tigergirl80 · 05/11/2024 22:46

John’s nothing like Derek, Malcolm or Roger! They’re stuck in their time and only in their time (well, Derek and Malcolm are.)

It’s more like Peter, Mark or David: a solid timeless name. I think they’re all classy in a way that ‘interesting’ names can never be.

But it’s all opinion.

I think Malcolm will come back before too long. I know one baby Malcolm. It is a grumpy old man name but has history, used by Shakespeare etc. I think it'll be there in the 2030s!

RobertaFirmino · 07/11/2024 22:30

If I was up in court and my solicitor was called John, I'd feel a damn sight more confident in his abilities than if he was called Jaxxon or Bear. Names do say a lot (and I know they shouldn't...).

Beamur · 07/11/2024 22:31

Yay
