im expecting my first child a little girl and wondered what people thought to the name Caroline with the nickname ‘caggie’?

Middle name would be Mia, so Caroline ‘Caggie’ Mia. Or Caroline Mia. NOT double barrel can I add.

The only Caroline I know is Caz. Better that Caggie

RosieBurdock · 04/01/2024 13:20

Or I like Carrie. If I was called Karen I'd probably use Carrie as a short version too.

Caggie sounds too much like Claggie to me - and my phone autocorrected it to 'ciggies'. Kids may well call her Claggie or ciggies in secondary school based on this - you can't control nicknames.

Also doesn't seem like a nickname for Caroline - I would think Caro as the short version for Caroline, which I really like.

I think I might actually prefer Ciggie/Siggy? instead.

I'm a Caroline and absolutely hate my name being shortened to anything!

Balloonhearts · 04/01/2024 13:30

Caroline is lovely. Caggie ssounds like slang for an STI.

Wytchy · 05/01/2024 11:59

I was always baffled by the gorgeous Caggie from Made in Chelsea having such an ugly name.

Callie or Carrie are both MILES nicer.

porridgeisbae · 05/01/2024 12:01

I think it's ugly. I thought caggy is milk that has gone off and it's too much like that.

Carrie might be in a horror film but it's quite pretty.

porridgeisbae · 05/01/2024 12:10

@Confusgurl I checked and it's not just me, the definition of caggy is pretty much something that's gone off :) 'tainted; unwholesome' etc

Mumsanetta · 05/01/2024 12:13

I like Caggie, it’s very sweet as a nn!

Daisybuttercup12345 · 06/01/2024 00:47

Caggy. Very ugly.
Just call her Caroline.

Babla · 06/01/2024 01:00

Caggie is awful

Just call her Caroline

RobertaFirmino · 06/01/2024 15:48

Slaggy Caggie. Yes, it's a horrible thing to say but it's very likely to happen.

saraclara · 06/01/2024 15:59

Caggie makes me think of phlegm and a thick/sore throat.

Exactly. That or a pp's earlier description:
Caggie sounds like a cat bringing up a fur ball

GoodVibesHere · 06/01/2024 16:00

Caggie?!! Posh?!!

Sounds like a word you'd use for pile of dog poo: 'Mind you don't step in the caggie'.

Or a pair of cacky pants: 'Put those caggies in the wash'.

Caggie sounds like caguer, French slang for to take a dump, so it's a no from me.

American12 · 06/01/2024 22:46

Love this

American12 · 06/01/2024 22:46

Heard it as a nickname for Catherine also

Jingleballs2 · 06/01/2024 22:57

Horrible sorry 😬 I remember thinking how awful it was when watching made in Chelsea years ago
