Stuck on names. So far we have
Thisbe
Tabitha
Thea
Elowen
Xanthe
Callista

Suggestions welcome. We quite like Greek/mythology/mystic/romantic (I can’t think of the right term )

Thea or Tabitha

I love Thisbe, my friend has a little girl called this and she never gets called Frisbee.

I also love Calliope
Artemisia
Minerva (Minnie for short)
Persephone (Seffy)
Hebe
Hester
Athena
Flora
Helen

InstantGratificationDarkPlaygroundOfMN · 24/07/2023 21:00

I love the name Thalia

InstantGratificationDarkPlaygroundOfMN · 24/07/2023 21:05

The only downside is that there appears to be 3 ways of pronouncing it?

How to Pronounce Thalia - PronounceNames.com - Bing video

I pronounce it TAR- lee- a (emphasis on ta)
not th sound or ta-LEE-a
It means to blossom and is one of the Muses

Like Tabitha and love Xanthe.

Thisbe - no. One of a gang of characters in A Midsummer Night's Dream that also included Pyramus and a donkey named Bottom. Not a good association.

How about Thessaly? (I don't know if anyone uses this as a name, but I think it sounds great)

InstantGratificationDarkPlaygroundOfMN · 24/07/2023 21:12

The mechanicals were performing the play within the play Pyramus and Thisbe

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 24/07/2023 21:13

I like Tabitha and Thea, but the latter is quite popular at the moment.

Other Greek Mythology names - Rhea, Thalia, Calliope. I used to work with a young woman named Calliope but she called herself Calli.

Brk · 24/07/2023 21:14

Cross Thisbe off the list, shenwould hate all the frisbee jokes.

The rest are nice , I particularly like Elowen. (Or Elodie?)

InstantGratificationDarkPlaygroundOfMN · 24/07/2023 21:14

Isolde?
There are many variations though.

My DD says Persephone but I hate the myth.

Rosalind is lovely.

YomAsalYomBasal · 24/07/2023 21:16

Thea (and Theo) very popular at the moment, we have so many at preschool that it gets confusing.
I've always loved Xanthe. I once knew a lovely girl with that name.

Howtosolveit · 24/07/2023 21:21

How about these: Helen / Helena, Cressida, Diana, Anthea, Aura, Daphne, Gaia ...?

Olika · 24/07/2023 21:22

Thea

Ohmylovejune · 24/07/2023 21:24

Thisbe sounds like Frisbee - no
Tabitha I know a cat called this - no
Thea yes, like this name. It's OK.
Elowen yes, like this name. It's OK
Xanthe OK if you don't mind people spelling it with a Z
Callista sounds like a medical ointment- no

Ohmylovejune · 24/07/2023 21:26

I know a Persephone- we called her Percy and didn't know her real name until it came to exams!

Medenagan · 24/07/2023 21:38

I think Xanthe and Callista are both lovely, and agree with pp about Calliope - great name! Iris is nice, as is Thalia and Hebe. If you’re keen on Greek names, maybe Charis, Athene, Thetis, Elpis, Eirene or Penelope?

RestingMurderousFace · 24/07/2023 21:40

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/07/2023 19:29

This. Just go with Frisbee.

😂

Medenagan · 24/07/2023 21:41

On second thoughts, please don’t go for Elpis - nicer written down than spoken!

MotherOfVizslas · 24/07/2023 21:42

Thisbee the frisbee😂

But I think Callista is lovely🩷

RestingMurderousFace · 24/07/2023 21:47

Claire is nice.

CoddledAsAMommet · 24/07/2023 21:51

I live your choices, other than Thea which seems a bit dull.

How about Tirzah, as in Tirzah Garwood the artist? I think k it's beautiful.

Trees6 · 24/07/2023 21:54

Tabitha or Xanthe from your list. I also like the suggestion of Tanith.

Howtohideasausage · 24/07/2023 21:57

I LOVE Tabitha.

StopStartStop · 24/07/2023 22:00

Knew a Kallistah, quite liked her name.
Tabitha is perfect.
Thea is ok. Theadora?
Knew a lovely Tanith.

GetOurraMeWay · 24/07/2023 22:02

Yup, sorry, Thisbe = This be the verse.
'They fuck you up, your mum and dad'
by giving you crap names
