Loki

Is Loki a good or bad name for one of our triplet boys?

DH and I jokingly names one Loki because in scans he's always playing up kicking the others, refusing to be measured or simply hiding half of himself! But the name has stuck and DH wants it on the list for names.

I know of the name Loki from just being me but I think people would assume we are massive marvel fans. Neither of us have watched any of the movies or are that into the comic books. But using Norse hood names appeals 🤣

On a side note we are looking for names that are uncommon for boys. The little girl we have named almost (1st and 3rd name agreed) but boys are hard. They would have siblings called Theodore and Cordelia if that helps.

TIA

It can always be a middle name? Anyway there's loads of nice norse names; Freya, fenrir, odin, thor, elli, nari, tyr,

See, Dorian would be as "out there"/teasable as Loki where I am - in fact Loki might get less looks as at least it's "cool" (secretly love Loki btw but yes, a bit unfair with sibling names like Theodore and Cordelia).

I've never heard of Azekiel either, only Ezekiel which tends to automatically get Zeke I think.

Elias?
Maxim(ilian)?
Laurence?
Nathaniel?
Dominic?
Benedict?
Alexander? (too popular? Similar Lysander would work well with Cordelia!)
Orlando? (bit unusual but again a nice match to Cordelia!)

Is Annie a nn or the full name? I love Annie as a nn for Antonia personally. I think Cordelia and Antonia (Annie) would sound lovely together!

allthecats1982 · 08/07/2023 16:24

@IamnotwhouthinkIam my mums name is Anne so Annie is her nickname but I like it more than her actual name!

@IamnotwhouthinkIam sorry I pressed the button too early!

Dorian follows the theme of names from literature and is not AS pop culture as Loki. What's teasable about Dorian? Because of the narcissism element? I don't know if kids will know that so he might be ok. Although kids know a lot these days so I wouldn't put it passed them. We can't have a lot of the other names due to them being out names or names of family and other children we have experienced as a biter or spitter.

How about Lachlan (loki), Struan and Harris.

Yes, I am Scottish but u don't hear these names very much.

helloelsie · 08/07/2023 22:15

Anya

For a girl

Elegant, understated, international

BansheesOfEdSheeran · 08/07/2023 22:20

Loki is so common. How about Mephistopheles?

LuciferRising · 08/07/2023 22:28

I'm glad I won't have any more children because I'd name a son Lucifer. I love it!

CrazyBite · 08/07/2023 22:31

Go for Caspian or Cassius, it would be great with your other DC's names!

You can always use Loki as a middle name

LuciferRising · 08/07/2023 22:39

Cassious reminds me of Cassian from the Court of Books. I liked the character.

Not sure about babies but every other dog round here seems to be named Loki.

Yep the same know loads of dogs.

ChocoChocoLatte · 08/07/2023 22:45

We have a Cordelia - lovely name.

Boys names we liked included:
Cassian
Gabriel
Jude
Caleb
Corin
Roan

And I love Annie but as you already have a Theodore and Cordelia, I'd give her a longer name which you could shorten to Annie.

Sylvanna
Arianne
Antonia
Marianne

Massive congratulations on your triplets and best of luck with your gang of 5.

WhatTheFlipToDo · 08/07/2023 22:50

My vote: Angus, Gabriel and Ophelia.

hlr1987 · 08/07/2023 22:52

I'd probably go for Theodore, Alasdair and Cordelia (Theo, Alec and Cordie) as a group.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/07/2023 23:15

If you are not in the UK, Dorian might be fine. Sadly a lot of people here wouldn't think of Dorian Grey and the portrait in the attic (so the narcissism element wouldn't even come up), but rather "Dorien" - a comic older female "cougar" type character on a long running UK sitcom. Although since the show finished Dorian has been very slowly on the rise for boys, it might still sound feminine or funny to some I think.

I love Caspian though! I assume you've considered Atticus? Or even William, which is the ultimate literary name I think (if a bit popular, but then so is Theodore now) -Shakespeare, Blake, Wordsworth, Yeats, Golding, Faulkner etc

Daisybuttercup12345 · 08/09/2023 22:13

Loki is a popular dogs name.
Not heard of a Blokie called Loki lol.
