Loki

Is Loki a good or bad name for one of our triplet boys?

DH and I jokingly names one Loki because in scans he's always playing up kicking the others, refusing to be measured or simply hiding half of himself! But the name has stuck and DH wants it on the list for names.

I know of the name Loki from just being me but I think people would assume we are massive marvel fans. Neither of us have watched any of the movies or are that into the comic books. But using Norse hood names appeals 🤣

On a side note we are looking for names that are uncommon for boys. The little girl we have named almost (1st and 3rd name agreed) but boys are hard. They would have siblings called Theodore and Cordelia if that helps.

TIA

My 12 year old son is called loki, and he loves his name! He's a very sensible boy, so it's ended up ironic really 🤣 there are more of them now, but it's also popular in dogs too 😉

ALJT · 06/07/2023 17:51

I don’t watch marvel much - my sons do but I really like the name Loki!

menopausalbloat · 06/07/2023 17:52

I know of too many sphynx cats called Loki so it's a hard no from me.

Greenfishy · 06/07/2023 17:53

My best mates dogs Loki, so I couldn’t do it, but you go for it if you like it!!

Hotterthanhades · 06/07/2023 17:55

These names all sound lovely but a nightmare to shout across the park when they all run in separate directions!

have you thought about one syllable names?

By the time you’ve got the names Persephone and Theodore out, clementine and Lachlan will have run for the hills!

cptartapp · 06/07/2023 18:21

God no. First thought was Lochia - post partum bleeding!

BestieBunch · 06/07/2023 18:22

Oh I think it’s a great name. I’ve never watched Marvel.

OopsOhNoZHM · 06/07/2023 18:23

Naming boys is definitely harder than girls, by a long shot! There were names I liked with my first, that I then wasn't keen on with my second. I remember the struggle with my second, we got to a point where we would sit on a night going through our DVD collection shouting out character names and actor's names 😂

I see you've come away from Loki, I absolutely love that name, and I know everyone says the names should match and follow the same class but honestly, your children are all going to be different, why shouldn't their names?
I have 3 children, and when I was pregnant with my first I chose Zack, as it's a strong, stand-alone name that couldn't be shortened. By the time I was pregnant with my second son, I had no idea what I wanted 😂 but I knew I wanted different, and the poor kid is named after a fat orange cat 😂 Heathcliff, because I randomly sang the theme song one night and we both instantly agreed. My daughter was the easiest, and she has a name I made up when I was 17. None of their names are on the same level, because they're all very different humans.
Food for thought 🤷🏼‍♀️ good luck with the naming, hope you manage to find names you both love 😍

This.

I think it would take you a while to say 'Cordelia, Theodore and Loki' compared to something like 'Tess, Max and Kit'

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:04

@KirstenBlest well Theodore and Cordelia already have their names so I can't change that. I'm just going to let everyone name one baby and have it done 🤣

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 19:12

@allthecats1982 Do you have 2 children already with triplets on the way, or do you have no DC yet but 2 of the triplets are already named?

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:13

@KirstenBlest I already have two children. We did Ivf to get one more 🤣 I promised it would be the last time we did it (5th time) and low and behold we have triplets!

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 19:17

Call the three new babies whatever you like. Don't give them short names if you wouldn't otherwise.

Hazelnuttella · 06/07/2023 19:18

What will the girl be called?

I agree with pp that some shorter names might be in order for triplets.

allthecats1982 · 06/07/2023 19:20

@Hazelnuttella my mum wants Persephone but we have chosen Annie because we are naming her after my mum. My mum helped us pay for the Ivf.

Hazelnuttella · 06/07/2023 19:23

Annie is really lovely

Tinkerbell5578 · 06/07/2023 22:06

Quinn?

Tinkerbell5578 · 06/07/2023 22:08

Owain or Owen

BCBird · 06/07/2023 22:08

Dog's name near me

concertgoer · 06/07/2023 23:27

allthecats1982 · 05/07/2023 11:53

@KirstenBlest the triplets are two boys and a girl. We are fine in girl names and always have been. Even when our son was born we had girls names but nothing for a boy. I'm tempted to name them Alvin and Simon though so they're called Alvin Simon and Theodore!

I was going to suggest Alvin and Simon to go with Theodore
….. doop doop, do do do doop !

I liked unusual but classic boys names too. How about:

Clement
Erasmus
Idris
Emrys
Ambrose
Angus
Aubrey

Mollymalone123 · 07/07/2023 02:44

Loki is the new rover for pups near me

continentallentil · 07/07/2023 07:14

Use it as a middle name

He won’t be impressed by being called Loki with siblings Theodore and Cornelia.. it gives a very different vibe.

allthecats1982 · 07/07/2023 07:23

Thank you everyone for your input and honesty. I don't hate the name I just don't want to give it to a child the same way my husband does. We are struggling 🤣

To all those who said Theodore is really popular- I know that. But where we live it's not that much. We mainly have Logan, Issac, Zak, Rhys/Reece, Adam and Frankie (for boys and girls) as our main names. They actually account for probably 20% of the boys names who are in our school (I just checked the registers. We have 92 boys called Issac!)

So far the names that are in the joint list are now:

Gabriel
Dorian
Caleb
Locksley (100% I don't want)
Micah
Azekiel (but I don't like Zeke)
Caspian

Gabriel goes well with Theodore and Cordelia.
